Do you give your LO a milk bottle or sippy cup before bed? Do you brush their teeth right after? I brush my LO's teeth during his bath after dinner. I sometimes giving him milk before bed (depending on how early dinner was) and I find it hard to brush his teeth afterward because its usually a soothing to sleep kind of thing. If I break out the toothbrush then he just fights me and then I have to work to get him calm again.
Ellie still nurses to sleep after she brushes her teeth. I give her a sippy of water at night if she's thirsty. Though she loves to brush her teeth so much, I usually have to fight to get the toothbrush back from her.
If its bath night her teeth get brushed during her bath. Any other night its usually right before her sippy or right after all depends. But usually brushing her teeth is a chore because she never wants to give it back so we giving her a sippy afterwards seems to calm her down.
Josh gets a snack and a milk sippy cup at 7:30pm and at 7:45pm he gets his teeth brushed. He loves to brush his teeth. He cries if we take away the tooth brush, but after a few minutes we ask if he's done and he usually gives us the tooth brush and then all is good.
Brendan gets his milk and then we brush his teeth. I turn on the hallway light but keep the bathroom light off and it seems to keep him soothed. We take turns brushing and then he's ready for bed.
Seems to work so far.
Just before putting him in his crib Liam will have his teeth brushed
so after any snack or sippy cup
He fights us so our trick is to give him our toothbrush and he brushes my teeth while i brush his - or if dh and i are both home, dh will brush Liam's teeth while I pretend to brush my own, works every time
Hallie never gets a sippy before bed. She really doesn't even get one after dinner. I'm bad about brushing Hallie's teeth. It's a habit I'm really having to work to create.
