I am curious what everybody keeps their house at night? What does the outside temperature drop down to where you live?

It gets pretty cold here now (not as cold as Canada I am sure). We are below freezing at night outside. We keep the heat at 65F at night.

65 geesh! I would be a popsicle. When I lived in Boston I kept it around 72 at night and turned it way down when no one was home during the day.

I try to keep it at about 70 degrees here. DH and I argue about it all the time. We both sneak off and adjust it when the other is not looking. He likes it nippy.

We live in Michigan, and it's turned down to 58 at night.
But we do have a space heater in the bedroom we sometimes turn on.

I think every house is different. We are in Chicago and right now it is in the 40's. We keep the house at 71 during the day and 73 at night. We usually put that plastic stuff over the windows in the winter and that helps keep heat in, but we haven't done it yet this year. Last year we kept the house at 69 or 70 at night and that felt perfect with the plastic on.

During the night I turn it down to 65 and during the day its around 68-70. We get down to freezing. My rule is its expensive to heat places, so if your cold put on layers or sit with a blanket. DH if he could would crank it up to 80 in during the day. Not gonna happen..lol

we keep it at 68 during the day and I actually put it at 71 at night upstairs. We have 2 ac units, one upstairs and one down, so I can keep the upstairs warmer during the day in the summer and just cool down where we are, and vice versa. The only reason it goes up to 71 during the day is that Cade's room is the coldest in the house. At night here it can be anywhere from 45 degrees on down, we will have a few days all year that it gets into the low 20's or teens overnight.

I don't know. We use our fireplace to heat the house.

Usually 69 all day/night. We may even crank it up in the evening. One expense I am not stingy with is heat. We are in MN and I HATE being cold.

okay so right now it's about 25degrees farenheit outside at night and it can easily get to -4 or less in Jan/Feb. So we keep the house usually around 72 degrees (which is 23degrees celsius). It's a big house (2400 sq. ft.) so the upper level is usually much colder and Celina's room gets really cold at night, because she's right over the porch and has a huge window. Even with it being 72 degrees, I still layer and sit with a blanket at night on the couch.
I was actually contemplating getting an extra duvet cause the bed is always so cold.

we are having a really mild winter so far, we've only had snow once!

at night it hovers just above or below freezing, so we are still sleeping with the window open a crack.

the only room that has heat on right now is the kids' room, and it is on 15C (58F)

you all are crazy!!! lol

What is your normal heating bill?

I do budget and almost year round my bill is under 80 a month and I keep my house at 75+ during the day and night.. we walk around in shorts and tank tops all winter lol. I hate being cold. We even have fans running inside cause of the heat. I love it.

We keep it between 65-68 degrees at night time, since I like it cool to sleep. The kids rooms get cooler than ours for some reason, so we don't go any lower than that.

During the day, we keep it around 72.

During the winter, it CAN get down in the 20's-30's at night. We keep our thermostat at 70-71 during the day and 66-67 at night.

Summer is another story- A/C is at 74 day and night (outside it is still 80 degrees at 10PM).

I sleep better when it's cooler in the house, but I don't like it to be too cold when I get out of bed.

I live in MA and it can get cold at night but it's been really mild. I rarely turn the heat on right now, we keep the house at 70-72

we live in an apartment building, so it is VERY warm even without the heat on. my daughter sometimes strips her clothes off at night because she doesn't like being too hot.
