Do you have something that you've held on to for many years, and plan to hold on to for many more?

What is it? Where did you get it? Why does it hold so much value to you?

Right before we moved, Maggie broke a music box that I'd been holding on to since I was 12. I was holding on to it because I loved it, my mom gave it to me, and I was actually saving it for my daughter when she was old enough to have it. It was a blown glass cathedral on a mirrored carousel base. She found it, smashed it...nuff said.

What are you going to do right? I've got a whole closet of photo albums and frames and antiques from my grandmothers and great grandmas that are being kept for Maggie. They just mean a lot to the family. One of them is a silk pillow case my grandma used to sleep on. She wouldn't sleep on anything else ever. She always said it kept you from waking up with bed head. She was wrong, but she was adamant about it anyway.

The possession I've had the longest is probably a stuffed monkey that I've had since I was ~4. It's threadbare and stained, with some mending done to a ripped seam and missing a nostril. My parents gave it to me at a time when we didn't have much in the way of toys. It's survived many moves without being lost, left behind, or given away...

This is so funny bc Marques and I were talking about my wallet that I still have last night. I've had it since about 7th grade, so that's 13 years now. I just can't throw it away. It has all sorts of crazy stuff in it that I can't part with. I don't carry it anymore, but it stays in my dresser drawer.
