This was the first year we spent Christmas Eve alone as a family, instead of going to someone's house. It was nice and relaxing. We had dinner and then watched Christmas shows and then the kids went to bed just before 8pm. DH had borrowed a Santa Suit (one of those high quality ones that someone uses to be Santa at a mall) and we woke up at 6am so he could get all dressed up. I woke the kids and told them that I heard Santa on the roof top. We ran down and hid under the kitchen table so we could spy on Santa putting the presents under the tree. DH was awesome, he even ate the cookies and drank the milk. I told the kids that they had to be really quiet or else Santa would run away with the presents if he saw us...LOL. They were great. I only wish it hadn't been so dark that I would have been able to video tape their expressions. It was really nice with the tree lights on but just too dark to see anything on the camera. After Santa left we opened our presents....yes it was just around 7am at that point, but my kids are early risers anyways. Then we had a nice breakfast and in the afternoon went to my parent's house for Christmas dinner and we opened their presents.
Boxing Day we spent at home doing absolutely nothing but playing and eating.
