Seems like I ask this question every 3 months or so How much milk are the kids supposed to be drinking now?

Since we quit the bottle, Claire doesn't drink nearly as much milk as she used to. She guzzled from the bottle, but takes little sips from her sippy and only drinks maybe 8 oz a day. Is that enough? She eats lots of yogurt and cheese, too, but I know she needs actual milk. Ideas? Thoughts?

hmm im not really sure how much they are supposed to get but Ross will drink quite a bit, he probably drinks 3 sippy cups a day (about 24 oz) he loves drinking milk but isnt big on cheese or yoghurt (unless its a grilled cheese)

if shes eating lots of cheese and yoghurt i really wouldnt worry much, shes getting the calcium and milk fats that way. Ross loves fruit smoothies, I blend up some fozen fruit with milk and he thinks its the greatest thing ever, maybe Claire might like milk if it tasted like fruit

I give Tommy a lot of milk too but he would rather milk over anything else. I have to limit it or else he will not eat anything and just drink milk.

Ellie drinks a few cups a day. She really loves drinking from her straw cup so after a few cups I switch it to water. She also loves cheese.

That is one reason why I don't rush to take away the bottle. With all my kids as soon as it was gone they didn't touch milk.
Miranda drinks 9oz in the morning when she wakes up and then mid day she'll have another 4oz maybe and before bed time she will drink another 4-5oz. But some days she wants more and some days she wants less throughout the day. The only constant thing is the morning bottle.

Our pedi says 15 oz or so a day of dairy. May it be milk, cheese, yogurt etc. Hallie has days where she drinks 3 sippies and maybe a day where she drink 1/2 of 1. But an average if 15 or so.

Thanks, Ladies. Last night I got out a bottle again because after reading all your posts I just don't think she's getting enough milk. I'll keep working with her on the sippy, and maybe she'll learn to like it more?

Melissa, I used this to transition Hallie (except in girly colors ).

It has a silicone spout similar to a bottle. We were on a schedule with her feedings and I started substituting this sippy one feeding at a time in place of a bottle. She transitioned really well with this. Then when she was able to use a straw the moved her to straw sippies. You can also get bigger sippies with this silicone spout as well if she wants more at once.

I love the NUK sippy cups. We have one only its taller and thinner. more like a bottle but nothing leaks out of it.ha.

Anyways Rosie drinks 3 sippy cups of milk a day. Morning 7-10 oz, afternoon 7 oz and before bed 7 oz. Sometimes Josh will give her one with lunch. So she gets anywhere from 16-24 oz on average a day. She eats a lot of cheese too. She loves string cheese.
