We have been debating about getting a new car for years. And we want to test drive a few. Would you test drive w/ baby or leave baby w/ a sitter- or take turns driving the car? Anybody done car shopping recently/with a baby? Any experience you can share?

Thanks for the input.

We got a new car in November and we left Ellie with her grandparents while we went. However, we were only looking for one specific type of car and we knew it was probably the one we wanted before we test drove it. I would leave the baby with a sitter just because it can be time consuming and a cranky little one can be distracting. If you're not sure how the car seat will fit in the car though, you might want to bring that with you to try it out in the car.

I only had one child at the time and test drove cars. I wanted to know how his seat was going to fit, room and space with him in there. We only test drove two cars so it wasn't an all day thing.

I left Lily with my parents when we test drove cars and brought he carseat with us. It was so much easier without having to tow her around.

I'd go alone, and when you settle on one, try it with baby and carseat and typical gear

We took your advice and left baby at grandmas. I think it was better for the first time w/o LO. They do have a big play area at the dealership. We need to go out again and test drive a few more vehicles.
