is your LO?

I feel like Tommy is so behind, he has a few words that he says but not much more. He totally understands what I say though. If I tell him lets go night night get his milk and bear, he does. So he understands things. I am just a little worried, Lily was talking up a storm by now and my sisters LO who is 4 months older can say Tommy's name, french fry, hot dog, and tons of other words and he has been doing it for months.

Ross has some words not a ton though. He "talks" all day long but i understand very little of it Like Tommy he understands what others are saying to him, and can follow simple directions (if he chooses to listen)

dont worry too much yet, at this age the "normal" range for vocabulary is huge. I used to nanny for a family who had a young son, and honestly he only had about 10 words at age 2, and you really couldnt understand him until closer to 3. Hes since caught up and he is a happy healthy 6 year old, he just didnt have anything worth saying i guess

He's not the only one. Miranda is the same. She is just now starting to say a few extra words, but she has a very limited vocabulary. Mostly it's baby jibberish or grunting. But she understands EVERYTHING and will follow directions. If I ask her if she had a good nap she'll shake her head yes, if she doesn't want something she'll say 'no'. Her actual words are , bye, baby, eat, mine, no, mama, Zelda, Tyler, up. I could swear the other day she said 'I want that', which really surprised me.

Josh can say quite a few words and can say two-word phrases. He also talks non-stop, but most of the time it's in his own language. But it's really cute. Our oldest was not even close to doing what Josh is doing at this age. I swear Josh talks almost as good as Alex somtimes. Kids just develop at their own pace. I wouldn't worry yet.

Isaac doesn't say much at all. He's just now starting to try to imitate and can say dada, mama, and day do (thank you), and papa. He understands what I say to him and he signs some words and follows directions. I'm not gonna worry until he is closer to 2.
At this age, my daughter could sign about 30 words and speak 20-30 words. Kids just each do things on their own time schedule.

Ellie is pretty chatty but a lot of it is just babble. She does understand what we say and is starting to use phrases. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

He is very chatty too but it is all babble. He once was able to say Lily clearly, now he doesn't. He used to say thank you but now he doesn't. But he has picked up a few other words. So maybe I just thought he was saying those words and really he wasn't. He does try to immiate a lot of things.

Joey doesn't say much at all. he says mama & dada, but that's it. He babbles a lot and sometimes i will think he is trying to say something but not sure if it's real or just coincidence that it sounded like a word. I talked to the pedi. at his 16 mo checkup and they are not concerned since he is developing normally with everything else.

Davidson can say a few words (loooves to yell for MIA, my 8 year old & BUDDEEEEE, my chihuahua/poodle) and a few other words but mostly babbles all day. No worries here though, I know he understands what I say to him.
