Is anyone else's LO waking in the middle of the night and having what sounds like a party all by themselves???
Ella has been sleeping through the night since she was 4 months old. Once every few weeks she might wake up crying, but usually a diaper change and/or some milk would help. But lately she's had a new habit. 7 of the last 10 nights she has woken up and just started talking to herself, laughing, singing...having a good ol' time. Unfortunately, she is quite loud so that my DH & I cannot sleep through it and it's lasting well over an hour, sometimes almost 2 hours. I've gone in and made sure she doesn't need a diaper change, given her milk, even some cereal. I've rocked her to the point where she's barely keeping her eyes open. I do not talk to her, smile, or communicate with her b/c I don't want to give her positive attention for this middle of the night waking. I don't know what else to do and I'm at my wits end b/c it's really upsetting my sleep!! My only thought is that maybe she's getting too much sleep. She goes to sleep around 7:30pm and I wake her up at 6am to go to the sitter. She takes a 2 hour nap from about 9-11 and then a second nap at 1pm (this one is anywhere from 45-90 mins). I am going to talk to her pedi at her 18m well check next week, but I'm just wondering if any of you have any suggestions. I can't imagine dealing with this for another week!

I'm sorry you're going through this. I just vented a while back about Maggie being all over the map with sleep...we have a couple good weeks, followed by a couple bad weeks. It's kinda draining.

Sounds to me like maybe too much sleep. Maggie's been down to 1 nap a day for a few months, and that lasts anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours. At least she's happy when she wakes. Most of the time, Maggie sounds like a siren of wailing - all she's missing is her bunny, but once found, she still won't go back down without rocking or some sort of consoling.

Babies are so weird when it comes to sleep. Sometimes putting them down a little earlier encourages them to sleep longer. Maybe do a couple of trial nights putting your LO down earlier or later to see if that makes a difference. Leah sleeps 12 hours straight every night and takes one nap. Usually from 2-4. We put her down at about 8:30. Are you still giving her milk or a snack before bedtime?
