What does your LO do while you are cooking dinner? I used to put Joey in his jumper and turn on a dvd but lately he gets upset and doesn't want to be confined. I have a gated toy room right next to the kitchen and he freaks out if I try to close the gate. I will bring a few toys into the kitchen\living room area and have him play while watching tv but he always wonders over to the stove, and sometimes he gets whiny and starts hanging on my legs and I get so frustrated. I really don't make big elaborate dinners, I try to do whatever is quickest and I still get stressed out by it. I wish there was something I could do to occupy him, it seems that toys don't keep his interest for very long.

Either in his high chair or in the living room with daddy. He tries to get into the kitchen (living room, dining room and kitchen are all one big room) but I don't want him to get hurt so he's removed a lot.

He's usually in the living room. DH is in charge of keeping the kids out of the kitchen while I'm cooking. They end up gettting yelled at a lot while I'm cooking cause they're always in my way.

our kitchen and living room are an open concept, so we have the living room gated off as the play area, Ross is in there playing while i cook

Usually in the living room since it can be gated but he knows how to climb over the coach and get out. So I have a cabinet that is just for him to play in.

We don't do gates. Sometimes if he is being extra mommy-needy then I put him in the highchair. He usually plays with toys and big sister (my DH usually isn't home when I am cooking dinner). I am just extra careful when I need to open the oven. I taught Eva pretty quickly to stay away from the oven and out of the kitchen when I am cooking and I am working on teaching Isaac too.

Alivia seems to have a sensor whenever we are in the kitchen. She can be totally distracted with something else, but the second we step foot into the kitchen, she is on our heels.

We are constantly removing her since she tries to climb the stove when we are cooking.

Sometimes we stick her in the highchair, or we will put on a show that we know will distract her long enough to let us finish cooking. She's really into Dora lately so that's our go-to show at the moment.

She has free roam downstairs so she comes in and out a lot. Plays with magnets on the fridge. She knows to stay away from the stove. but I still block her when I have to open it.

liam used to be good with playing with my tupperware and stuff while i was in the kitchen now he insists on being up all in my stuff
he will actually get between me and the cabinet/counter and push me away to try and get me to pick him up
the last few times ive actually sat him on the counter next to me and he just watches
he knows the stove is hot so he wont even go near it, which is awesome

Ellie will sometimes play in the living room with the tv, but if she wants to be in the kitchen with me, she's either playing in the tupperware cabinet, or with refrigerator magnets. We also put her little kitchen in our dining area that's connected, so sometimes she is cooking too.

Diana, Bishop is a tupperware baby also. I keep finding random ones all over while packing.

lol, it's all over our house. We can never find the lids that match the bottoms anymore when we're trying to use it.

London is normally in the living room with Caden or in his room playing. London has the thing that she will not walk on tile floor without shoes, so I normally take her shoes off and it keeps her out the kitchen..lol

lol... standing on a chair, up against the kitchen counter, cooking along with me. Makes cooking dinner an acrobatics act, but seriously, she has to be up and seeing and participating in what's going on while I'm cooking. So we take all possible precautions because the alternative is me drinking heavily, or take out every night!

Noah is usually either in his high chair or playing somewhere in the house by himself of one of the older three.
