Im going insane and I want to yell at DH! Davidson took himself off the pacifier @ 11months. I was trying to take him off the bottle @ the same time but DH would be lazy while I was at work @ just give the bottle. Now 8 months later, we are trying to break him of it and he cries! Im going insane, I hate to hear him cry. If anyone has any suggestions, they are well welcomed!!

I just kept offering Tommy the sippy cup and finally after trying for a couple of months he was done with the bottle. He did cry and throw the cup a couple of times but he eventually took it since I didn't offer him anything else.

well during the day he is completely fine drinking out of a sippy, its just at night at bed time. I took the bottle away and just gave him the nipple and that seemed to work. Now im a little worried because i dont know if I take the nipple, will he revert back to thumb sucking (hasnt done since 6 months)! He doesnt have a bottle at all during the day, its just at bed time. i hate hearing my little guy cry.

I hate hearing my LO crying too, I let him have his sippy cup in his crib, I know it is kind of the same. He only cried a few minutes the first couple of nights, maybe 2-5 minutes. I don't really let him cry longer than that. He eventually didn't want it anymore, I would wake up to a full cup of milk still sitting in there. I stopped giving it to him and now he just snuggles his bear. I think baby steps are the best, cold turkey doesn't always work for some kids.

Cold turkey, that is the only way I have successfully gotten rid of them. He might be upset but the more you give in, the harder time you're going to have to get rid of it.

We did a gradual take away but it was about a week. But have you tried the Nuk sippy cups? Its similar to a bottle nipple so he might do okay with that and not notice. I love the NUK sippy cups for Rosie.

When Brendan was at the point that a sippy was fine during the day but he only wanted a bottle right before bed, I just stopped giving him the bottle at all. He didn't even notice.

I would go cold turkey and replace that nighttime routine with another
like a bedtime story, a song, a snack or something to keep him in a routine
