What's something that sets your LO off?
Ellie has developed a tendency to hit when she's frustrated with something, but she knows she's not supposed to. So whenever she hits me or DH she gets this horrified look on her face and just freaks out even if what she was frustrated by wasn't a big deal in the first place.

He has a temper tantrum when we take something off of him, he wails around for a minute then stops.

Maggie was throwing thrashing tantrums, but they got her nowhere, so I'm not seeing so many of those these days. But lately, when she's frustrated, she finds anything she can bite down on, and she goes for broke...along with a whole lot of growling...lol. If it weren't my child, it would be hilarious.

Ummm normally when she gets frustrated or someone takes something away. Here lately she seems to always be on defensive mode, Im sure her brother has something to do with that...

When he can't have something that he wants. A lot of times its graham crackers. He wants them all the time and obviously he can't just eat graham crackers all the time. He cries non-stop and throws himself down on the ground.

Anytime Penny's told she can't have something she will sit in the middle of the floor look at you and scream, she does it for about 5 minutes before she gets bored then goes away to do whatever she was doing before

Josh cries and lays down on the floor when we tell him no...like when he wants something to eat. He also screams and cries when Alex takes toys away from him.

Everytime she's told 'no', that's when she starts crying at the top of her lungs like the world is going to end. And watch out if she's holding something in her hands because whatever it is will be thrown (and usually broken)

Sophia cries when I take stuff away that she is not supposed to have. Sometimes she will lay herself on the floor and slowly put her head down- so she doesn't hit it on the floor and cry laying on the floor.
The slowly putting the head down cracks me up- not very dramatic! She used to bang her head on the floor but she realized it hurts! LOL.
She sometimes throws things- but then I take it away from her so she doesn't do it often.

Ellie has started hitting the floor or her toys instead of hitting us sometimes and then she'll look at us to see if she's in trouble. I'm not sure if I should try to stop that too or what.

I have the same dilemna with the biting. She knows enough not to bite someone, but really, do I care if she's chomping down on a tea towel or a toy? I don't know. And I caught her biting our cupboards too. lol. My kid, the Canadian Beaver.

lol. The funny thing with her hitting the floor like that is DH does that too sometimes if he hurts himself. He'll hit a wall or whatever. She is just like him and she's never even seem him do that.

ya, I've noticed that poor Maggie has the ultimate cross section of both our tempers. I have a long fuse, but when it blows, I also have a long burn. It can take me days to get back to normal and stop being angry about something. DH has a short fuse and a short burn. When he blows it's loud and angry but over and done with quickly. But it takes almost nothing to set him off either.
Poor Maggie has his short fuse, and my long burn...of course everything is relative to her toddler attention span. A long burn for her is half an hour.

These days it seems like everything leads to her having a temper tantrum. If Dominic takes away a toy she will bite him. If it's something DH or I do - or don't do - she will flop onto the floor and start crying while flaying her arms & legs. It's actually pretty cute and I have to try real hard not to laugh when she does it.

For what it's worth, I talked to my pediatrician two weeks ago about Ella's biting and she said that it's very important to be consistent with these behaviors. She said if possible give Ella one, and only one, item she can bite. Explain that's for her to bite and everything else is off limits. Yeah, biting other things might not harm them, but she explained how at this age it would get too confusing to say these 10 items (or people!) are off limits, but these 10 items are ok and so on. I would think the same goes for hitting... Anyway, just thought I'd share. On a related note, Ella is constantly trying to bite our wooden tv trays!!

Anytime we pull into the garage or try to get into the car to leave he has a huge temper tantrum because he sees his push car toy or wagon and wants to go out for a walk. It is in the 30's here so not easy to go outside constantly. If we are indoors he points to the window and cries. Today I listened to him scream for about a half hour while I was trying to make lunch.

When Sam is told no he screams. Then he gently sits on the floor then throws his head back.

Claire has just started to throw things when she's frustrated with herself. For example, if she can't unscrew the top off of a cup like she wants, or she can't get a zipper open, she'll just yell and throw the object as far as she can. To her credit, she does try for quite a long time to do it first, but eventually she just can't take it anymore
