...Went well! He was really good, did good on his hearing test, did *ok* on his vision test, but the Dr. said it was because he didn't really recognize the symbols they used. He doesn't show any signs (yet) of needing glasses (DH and I both need glasses so it's likely he will need them someday), she wasn't worried and will re-check at his 5 year well check.

He weighed 39.5 lbs (75th %tile) and was 40" tall (50th %tile). He's a pretty solid kid, lol.

Apparently he already got his 2nd dose of MMR and Varicella at his 3 year well check. I wish I'd been paying closer attention at that point, but thankfully it's all done & over with and I didn't have todeal with spacing them out now.

As for the flu shot, they offered the seasonal one and I declined. They didn't even really ask, I asked the nurse after I found out he wouldn't be needing the other vaccines, "so then he has no vaccines today?" the nurse said "nope, no vaccines due today...unless you want the flu shot" I said "oh, no thanks" she said ok (nicely) and closed his chart. That was that! I was nervous they'd be pushy. They didn't even offer the H1N1 shot, so that was a relief.

She asked if he was on any meds, I said just a multivitamin and extra Vit. D, she asked how much, I told her I gave him the extra 400 in addition to his multi and she said "ok, good" and wrote it down.

Bad news was, he has a pretty bad ear infection, she said she was surprised it hadn't interfered with his hearing test, she rX'd him some azithromax. He's never been a complainer, he's had 3 ear infections in his life and has never complained, they were always found at a well check.

So all in all, great appt.

I am glad he had a good appointment. So David doesnt experience pain when he has an ear infection? In regards to the vaccinations, Aidan will be due for vaccinations on his four year old check-up. Should I just do one at a time and how long should I space them? I have already been declining the flu shots. I really dont want to be confronted with the H1N1 vaccine because that will be a no as well. Kellly can you please let me know what is a good idea about the timing of shots, thank you for sharing David's appointment with us because I feel a little more prepared for his visit.

I was going to do the MMR shot one week, then 2 weeks later, do his DTaP, then 2 weeks later, do his polio & varicella (chicken pox).
That way it wasn't so many viruses in his system all within one day. If you count them, there are EIGHT all going into his little body at once!

Some people think you should space them out even further and do single doses, but you really have to find what you're most comfortable with. I can't afford the co-pays to do 8 solo trips in just for shots, (although they don't make the single MMR shots anymore) and I feel like he's always had the cocktail vaccines as it is, so I'm at least cutting it down to 3 viruses in one visit. He probably comes in contact with 3 or more viruses on a daily basis anyway, just not directly injected into his system (along with the chemicals that come with the vaccines).

I mean I guess he's done ok so far, but it's always made me uneasy. I've been looking into delayed schedules since he was 2, but I've always come out more confused when I tried researching 'delayed vaccination schedule' on google, and in the end I've always caved and went with the routine schedule.

Thanks Kelly. I am worried about vaccinations because Aidan is on the autism spectrum and now I wonder if the vaccinations are what caused it. I know the doctors are disputing it but I dont know. It makes me wonder. There is a lot of chemicals that are in the vaccinations.
