i had gestational diabetes in my first pregnancy and i started around 180 pre-pregnancy.. ended up around 220 or so... now almost 4 years later i weight around 270 and im scared ill develop the real thing because of my weight issue as of now.. have any of you had gestational diabetes at your plus size weight and has it gone or did it go away?
When I was pregnant with my DD almost 5 years ago I had G/D. It went away as soon as I had her. My prepregnancy weight was about 230 lbs. I managed to loose a ton of weight and at delivery was 214 lbs.
Every since then I have had what they call "Impaired Gluclose" which means that I am not quite there, but very very close to being type 2 diabetic.
I am now 20 weeks pregnant, 37 and starting prepregnancy weight of 224 lbs and FULL BLOWN G/D diagnosed at 8 weeks. Insulin dependant and everything again. I am praying also that this will go away once this little on is born and I can hold off becoming "Type 2" for at least a few years anyway. It is inevitable that I will become type 2, but as long as I can try to do everything in my power to prolong the inevitable I will.
