I had my checkup today. I had gained my first pound when i was 18 weeks. My appetite has been crazy and i know i haven't done my best. So this time around i gained 7 lbs this month. So a total of 8 lbs so far. I was already feeling bad that i gained that much, but the nurse says to me "I think that was too much weight to gain. You are heavy to begin with and don't need to be gaining that much." I was so ready to punch her in the face. She has no right to say that to me. That is for the doctor to say. Besides my doctor said i could gain 40 lbs and i shouldn't be loosing anything. She said she would be concerned if i only gained 10-15 lbs. Anyway i just needed to vent. That nuse was so mean for saying that. I came home and started crying. It has been bothering me ever since. Thanks for listening.
Snowball Fight 2006- I've been hit 9 times!
Thank you Meighan for the siggy!
I'm sorry she said that to you-she should not have done that. I already felt big, add bigger bb's, cellulite, and hormones, and I'm a wreck without some nurse making comments. I have a co-worker who has a reply when people say stupid things-"Do you mean to be hurtful when you say things like that?" I'm hanging onto that for the next person... If your doctor is happy, then I don't think you need to worry about what that nurse thinks. I'm sorry she made you sad at your appointment.
I'm sorry your nurse wasn't so nice!! How does your doctor feel about your weight gain? And how do -you- feel??
I got a talk about my weight at my appointment yesterday too. But I feel good and I've been eating well (ok, I could certainly exercise more) so I'm going to take it all with a grain of salt! My goal is to get through this pregnancy feeling healthy and so long as I don't gain a HUGE amount that worries my doctor, I'm not going to worry about it!
Sorry about your frustrating experience with the nurse...just take a stand and let her know how you feel....I have gained about 10-12 pounds in 27 weeks of pregnancy and my doctor respects me enough not to judge me on that....I hope that things start looking up at your next appointment!
I'm so sorry your nurse was so insensitive! Maybe you can arrange your appts when she isn't working. I have always had the same nurse everytime I go to my doctor. She did say something to me today - but nothing like that. She said I needed to drink more - but I had a busy morning and didn't drink my 2-3 glasses that I usually drink when I first get up. I gained this month and my doc and nurse didn't say anything (I have an awesome doctor).
AJ (age 7) & Katie (age 2.5) PM to see if I am available to make a siggy - decisions will be made on a case by case basis.
they are always like that... i havent heard anything with this pregnancy YET but thats because like you, ive only gained about 1-2 pounds.. lets see how my next appoinment goes. but regardless... thats for the doctor to say not some "nurse".
Ya know.. some times i wonder about these "medical professionals" my nurse is fine, its my doc thats awful..
"actually i want you LOSING WEIGHT during this pregnancy" I am now ignoring him and just smile and nod.. if i gain, whats he going to do ? refuse to let my baby come out cause im not THIN enough for his liking.. ?
Hey ladies! I usually just read around these parts and sometimes post on juvenile diabetes area BUT I had to make a comment here. First off, I am a wonderfuly plus sized mommy too! My thing is, why do people feel like they have to point out we have a few extra pounds here and there? Do they think we dont know it?
it sucks that she treated you that way. with my first pg i was on bed rest from 26 weeks till i delievered my son i gained 108 pounds with that pregnancy but, not once did anyone say anything at the office bout my weight gain.
i'm 18 weeks pg with number 2 i have a very hard time with weight I lost 124 pounds doing weight watchers and got pg with my lil guy this time i have already gained 34 pounds dont know if it was from being on a diet for the last 2 years and my body yo yo'd like crazy right on up but, since my last appt on april 6th I have gained 1 pounds so i'm hoping the weight gain slows alot.
