well every time i go for my two week appointment my doctor measures me and it has been fine up untill recently...when i was 29 weeks i was measuring ahead by one week..so yesturday(the 17th) i go in at 30 weeks and im measuring at 33 weeks! could it be because im over weight she isnt getting the right measurments? im going for another ultrasound to get the baby measurments but i was still wondering if my weight has caused her to miscalculate the measurments?? i havent gained any weight from my last appointment..if anyone could help it would be great!
It is quite possible that being overweight contributes to abnormal fetal measurements...however it is my belief that if you have been measuring accurately up until this point, then your abnormal result is likely a result of something other then being overweight pre-pregnancy. I am going for a fetal growth assessment ultrasound on Friday because my doctor hasn't done any measurements at all...I hope you have a good ultrasound when it does happen! Don't stress....I highly doubt its because of weight and babies measure ahead and behnid all the time!!!
I always seem to measure further along than I actually am. Sometimes by 2 weeks.
Both my hubby and I are large, and my SIL has had two 9lb babies. So, I think we are destined to have larger babies.
I don't think being overweight contributes the most to it - maybe it is just a little harder to get accurate measurements. My measurements were done via ultrasound - not the tape measure thing that is used. You'll be fine.
measurements can be off 2 inches either way. One explanation to the change in measurements is the baby's position. Depending on how balled up your little one is or if they've started to head south can make a big difference as to how you measure.
