My name is Anne (26) and DH is Dan (28), we have been TTC for over 3 years now. I have always been plus size but I got to my largest weight in Dec 2010, and I knew I needed a change. For many years, being plus size had never bothered me but going to a doctor to get pregnant was out of the question for the fact I was afraid they would look at me and say go home I might add that my periods, up until I started losing weight, had always been regular...Anyways, March 2011 I started the HCG diet with my starting weight of 377. My original goal weight was 300 and soon had to find a new goal weight which was 277 lbs. When I reached my goal weight of 277 in Jan 2012 I started medicated cycles to get pregnant. Over the months I have continued to diet..... as of this morning my weight is 233lbs! I am still have a LONG way to go but I hope to get pregnant along the way... FINGERS CROSSED this cycle did it!
I just really need a place to vent when I feel like giving up on this diet and to have a place to feel comfortable in my skin. Being plus size is not bad all the time but when it comes to medical things, doctors just give weight USUALLY as all signs to an illness or infertility. WHICH I do guess it plays a role but I have seen even the smallest woman not be able to get pregnant and other plus size women get pregnant without even trying
Welcome! I can understand your frustration with doctors, I think often they overlook what might be real problems and tell everyone with a weight problem that that is the problem. If you had had regular cycles I don't see how the weight could be the problem?
That being said, congratulations on the weight loss! I myself could never handle the HCG diet... too restrictive for me (my friend and her husband are actually doing it right now) but good for you for sticking it out! That is amazing!
How tall are you? I was 250ish when I got pregnant with my DD and I am 5'6". I found the experience good over-all, but I did have a nerve issue with my leg and I know I would have been more comfortable if I had weighed less. I am hoping for that next time around.
Well, sending some baby dust your way!

Glad you found us here! Congrats on your waitloss - that is truly inspirational.
I know how what you mean about Dr's. I was 235 when I got pg with my son. I was high risk from the beginning because I had a lung illness and was on steroids. I had signs of pre-eclampia from 24 weeks but my Dr. brushed everything off as me just being overweight and a first time mom. Long story short my son was born at 34 weeks during a difficult delivery and now has mild brain damage and epilepsy because of it - complications that may not have happened had I been properly treated for pre-e symptoms early on.
Lesson I learned - ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT INSTINCTS, ESPECIALLY WITH DOCTORS.
You have done amazing losing what you have. So glad you found this place ... support from people in a similar situation is key. I'm sure you will be an inspiring story for others as well.
Hi and welcome and huge congrats on your recent weightloss, that's amazing!!! as for the infertility I can totally relate, it took us years to conceive my first son and we were told along the way that the chance of us conceiving was very low and also told many times that it was because of my weight, but like others have said I think doctors often assign weight as the problem when there could be other underlying conditions. I hope you are able to concieve soon
Thank you Jaidynsmum for my Awesome Sciencey Siggy
That is what completely scares me the most if I do get pregnant will they treat me like a cow? I have come so far but people who do not know me personally, have no idea the weight loss I have had.... *Sigh*
I did the HCG injection diet so it worked rather fast compared to the drops that my mom did
