I have an opportunity to have a custom formal dress made for me, whatever design/colors I want. While I think this is really cool I'm also scared I'm going to pick something that will look unflattering! Normally you can try the finished product on and if you don't like it you can just get something else, but I can't do that in this case. Do you have any tips for styles you think look more flattering on a plus size body? I'm about a size 18 bust but the rest of me fits into a 16.

I like an empire waist and a v neckline. I also like a length of just below the knee with a fuller skirt.

I think the empire waist is nice too. If it were me, I would have to make sure the dress covered my arms because that's a problem area that makes me uncomfortable....also something to cover my legs. If you have great legs...show them off. I say, highlight your best parts...whatever they may be, lol.

Thanks ladies I think I'm definitely going with empire waist. I'm not too worried about my arms but straps always fall off my shoulders so I think I may go halter.
