For those of you who read to your little one(s), what are their and your favorites for type of story, length, illustration style, topics, rhythm (like reads more like a story, long poem, goofy like Seuss, a bit on each page like Boynton..?)
We've been thinking about writing a couple children's books and trying to get them published, of stories we've made up for kids in the family, trying to get an idea how to present them.
My favorite books as a child and my son's were The Pokey Little Puppy and Corduroy. For some reason most of the books the kids have loved had to do with animals. I would say not too long, a little on each page, bigger illustrations.
Matt is still just a baby, but he loves for me to read Mr Brown Can Moo. Can you? and A Fly Went By. He likes books that flow smoothly and rhyme. And he likes stuff that is very silly. And he likes to look at books with clear, bright illustrations.
