Im sorry, I cant help it, I keep using my doppler! I got it twice yesterday, and twice already today and its only 2:30pm! But it took me some time today.....I was getting so frustrated this morning, went and ate breakfast, came back and got it! Could not figure out how to re-record the new one, so I did it again just now after reading the manual (Im a slow starter, lol) and finally re-recorded the new one from today. 171-175bpm today, it is sooooo cool, I cant wait till someone else here has this toy and posts about it, then I wont feel like a freak ! I will update with the link later, once DH uploads to my pc for me!

Babybeat.com has a great policy when your ready......I did not get mine until 7.5wks, after the heart beat had been confirmed twice! I did not want to loose $270 for nothing either, but when your ready, it is the coolest toy, such a reassurance!

I have rented mine from them in the past. With Matthew I could hear it at 7w2d I think I am going to buy it outright this time. I agree it's addicting but soooo worth it. A trick... it helps A LOT to have a full bladder

I rented a doppler (pretty basic model) from babybeat.com for $25/month. I had a very rocky start to my pregnancy, so being able to hear the heartbeat is worth every penny and helps me relax. The little tube of gel that is included for free only lasted me a month, though, so if you are getting it for long-term use, I'd recommend getting an extra bottle of that!

Its too early too tell. All heart beats at this stage are super fast. Once your around 20wks, it will even out some. Average at 20wks is 140. My boys were all 130-140's, my dd was 155-165 around 20wks.......we will see.....

My dh insists on getting one based on our past history, and I'm still not sure. I know it's a great toy and gives you a piece of mind most of the time but what if one day, no matter how much you try you can't find a heartbeat, what do you do?

That is a good question. At this stage, it is very possible for me not to find it one day, I have taken that into consideration. But Im a very logical type person, even after my history of m/c's. Once I get to the 15-20wk mark though, there is no reason not to find it and I need that reasurrance. With my dd, I started to use it at 15wks, and found her heart beat everday for the duration of the pregnancy, including the day I went into labor.
Some women may freak out if they could not find it this early after finding it once, I have told myself, based on fact, that this is normal. So Im prepared for that to happen. Thats probably why I wont use it every day until I get passed that 15wk mark. Thank you for asking though, this is why alot of women wont rent/buy them, and it is completely understandable.
