So we finally decided to share the news with my parents this weekend. I was a nervous wreck because they didn't know about my m/c last year. I was also so worried that their reaction would be negative mostly because I'm back in school for my second degree and will have to stay out for one to two semesters due to the baby, which ultimately means it will be longer until I have a decent paying job again.
Well, they came over to our house for dinner and a movie. They ran out after the movie to get ice cream to go with the cake they had brought, so that gave DH and I a few minutes to decide that we were definitely going to tell them. They came back and we played Wii a bit, and my nerves were just going crazy having to wait. Finally, they said they needed to go home and DH started joking with them about politics. He said he wanted my mom to read a quote from a political book that we had to my dad. DH opened the book to where our u/s was and told her to read that to my dad. My mom was totally clueless...she said "Do you want me to start reading here?" and was pointing to the opposite page. Finally she saw the u/s and said "Is this your friend's baby?" And we said no, and then she said "Is this your baby????!!!!!" To which we said yes. My mom and dad were standing up immediately and giving us hugs and kisses and saying "Very good!" and "Well done!" They both had tears in their eyes. It was absolutely perfect, and I couldn't have asked for a better reaction then that.
We also talked a bit about the m/c and I started talking about how I'm not safe with this one yet and that I need their prayers. And my mom gave me the advice that only a mom can and told me basically that she believed in me and believed in my ability to have a healthy pregnancy.
Who knows what the future holds, but I am so glad that we told them this weekend. It was amazing.
