I have conjuncitivus or however you spell it. My right eye is swollen, vision is a bit blurry and it is half shut. I went to the shop today and got some eye drops which take 5 days to make it better. A couple of people have told me it is really contagious...so I'm wondering if I should take a day off - see a doctor etc.

I feel fine, so I really should go to work but I don't want to spreading it round, plus I look awful (like I've been beat on!)


What should I do, honestly? I feel I should go to work cause I physically am fine.

At school, if you get it then you are immediately sent home. You can't come back until you've been on the prescription drops for 24 hours. It's REALLY contagious, so make sure you and your roomie wash your hands A LOT and she doesn't come in contact with anything of yours. Also, make sure you change your pillow case -- some people will tell you to just sleep with a tshirt as the case and then you can change it daily.

Thanks Amy, I just realized how shocking my spelling was in that post. I'm usually quite particular We'll blame my temporary blindness.
Yep I'm meant to be in store all day tomorrow - so I'll be with lots of people, touching doors, products etc. Not sure it is wise. Thanks for the advice, I brought antibacterial handwash to make sure the germs don't spread. Beth is an RN in a hospital so she has to be sooo careful. She surprises me as she is supposed to be a nurse and is so grossed out by my eye. Too funny!
I'll see how it is in the morning and make a decision.

Oh no! I'm sorry, Anna! That sounds like it's no fun! Is there anyway you could do some work from home tomorrow and then go into the store a different day? That way you don't have to feel like you are being totally unproductive? Or call you boss/manager and see what they would prefer you do. Hopefully you feel better soon!!

I feel you....pink eye sucks...and it's definitely very contagious. I picked it up one time going to my yearly eye exam. I don't know if I got it from touching something that someone who had it had touched or the eye dr. himself didn't clean his hands good enough when he removed my contacts...ugh...in any case, if you wear contacts throw them out and wear glasses until it's cleared up and you'll have to get new lenses. I would stay home a day or so until it's on the mend.

ETA get some green tea bags, get them warm (hot water) and put them on your eye for about 30 mins...it'll make your eye feel better and help too!

Oh no! It is very contagious. You def should stay home - and make sure you wash your pillowcases and blankets and such so you don't re-give it to yourself. I'm sorry you have pink eye - i hate it! Hope it heals quickly!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd stay home. Also, any eye makeup you've used should be tossed out.

Eek! I got pink eye awhile back early into my pregnancy before I knew she was a girl! It was awful and I hated it If i were you I'd take a day off work. (It is extremely contagious DH passed it to me and I didn't get the symptoms until a couple days after he had it!) Wash your pillow cases/ sheets! And spray stuff down. We had to wash all of our sheets.

WOW no good news for you~

Here is a weird one I have heard. Since you are pregnant if you can get a few drops of milk out put that on/in your eye.

I had pink eye last month! You can't be around anyone for 24 hours, that is when it is HIGHLY contagious. You also need steriod eye drops, getting that crap in the store will not work so you need to go to the dr to get a script. Once, you do it should go away in a day or two. Good luck.

Thanks girls, I ended up taking the day off. When I called up - they told me one of the other women at work had it too. So they were keen to isolate it. I'm tons better today though, I'll be back in tomorrow!
