Did they draw a vial of blood from your arm or did they just prick your finger?
Just curious!
_______________________________________________
With my first pregnancy they did the finger prick for the 1 hour glucose.
With this one... (different OB/different state) they drew a vial of blood from my arm I asked my doctor why they couldn't just prick my finger for the 1 hour and he insisted that it was protocol now since the blood draws are more "accurate" (um... I just had my daughter 16 months ago? Didn't think things changed THAT quickly )

I did not have a 1 h test, but all the tests so far were drawn from my arms. My vanes are so blue after my 3 h that I look like a pregnant druggie.

They drew blood for the one hour. For the three hour, they gave me a finger prick first, followed by an immediate draw for my fasting number. Super fun!

When I had the 1 hour glucose done, they took 3 vials of blood. 1 for glucose, 1 for iron and ???, not sure what the other one was for. Then for each of the 4 blood draws for the 3 hour GTT, they took a vial of blood. I've never had a finger prick for the glucose tests.

I haven't personnally done glucose test, and will not due having diabetes myself...
however this puzzles me that why they insist on drawing blood? I know there is protocols and they occasionally want more blood, but if I can keep up fasting values and any other value through glucometer that measures the amount accurately in 5 seconds, and all you need is to prick you finger, then why draw blood?
(I actually personally complained about this thing on my hospital, that why you keep drawing my blood, when I know there is doctors who deal with diabetes, and I know they have the superfast and accurate big glucometer on their offices that measure both current and long rance levels - also known as Hba1c btw. But who knows )

They drew one vial of blood one time for the 1 hour test. They drew 4 vials of blood from the same arm for the 3 hour test. I have never had a finger prick.
