But Nash is not. I'm so sad. I never wanted to leave my baby or ever imagined it would happen but Nash has been struggling. The whole situation is sort of similar to Levon's only Levon caught on a lot quicker.
Nash was born with a small cleft palate. When I say small I mean VERY small, it is way in the back of his throat around his uvula. The hole is about the size of a pea and only on the soft palate, not the hard. The doctors are very surprised because this sort of thing is usually accompanied by a cleft lip. He doesn't have it though and I thank god every day he was spared that. He will have to have surgery when he is around a year old to close the hole. There is no explanation as to why it happened, it's just that sometime during early development the skin didn't close completely for some reason.
He is being referred to specialists as to the next steps and assessing his mouth.
This is NOT the reason he is not home with me though.
He is basically a lazy eater, he doesn't want to, well actually that isn't true, it's hard to explain. He get's very tired easily because in order to eat it seems like it's too much work for him, at first they thought that it was the cleft causing the issue but today we found out it's actually nothing to do with the cleft and it's because when he sucks he is not wrapping his tongue around the nipple properly so he is not drawing a strong enough suck, even though it looks like he is eating well he actually is not. He now has a G Tube in to help with feeding and the nurses are trying all sorts of different things to help him, trying to find something that works so that he CAN come home, he can't of course though until he is eating properly. I bought him paci's tonight, I am hoping that they help him strengthen his suck, he did really well with it when I was there.
I'm devastated to say the least, the nurses were trying to assure me it's okay and lots of parents are sent home without their babies and that these issues usually resolve themselves rather quick but they have even mentioned that if he does not get the hang of it like really soon they may have to send him to another hospital which is like a hour away. I've cried off and on about it so much, looking at his empty crib, his teddy's and his coming home outfit that he has yet to come home in.
Please keep him in your thoughts that he comes home soon!
Anyways, enough of that, here are some pictures of my PERFECT beautiful baby boy.
Oh, Leasha!!! He is simply a GORGEOUS little boy (well, not so little! Does that scale say 8# 12 oz?! ) I am so sorry he is struggling with the eating and I can't imagine not coming home with baby after having him I pray he gets stronger each day and it resolves itself shortly.
It sounds like the cleft issue is a bit concerning, but not overly so. Thank God!
Your pics are precious. I absolutely LOVE the last one. So, so sweet and innocent

First off, you are right - he is absolutely PERFECT and gorgeous. Congratulations.
I'm so so so sorry to hear about the complications and that he's not home with you. I can only imagine how hard that must be. Hang in there. I'm sending lots of Ts & Ps that he's home soon enough with his mama who loves him so so so so very dearly.

Oh Leasha, I'm sorry you had to leave him behind, that must have been so difficult. I hope he gets the hang of eating soon and it clicks like it did with Levon. He is so alert and handsome, you are right he is perfection
He is such a beautiful baby. I really hope his eating problem gets resolved soon and he can join the rest of his family at home. You are so strong, Leasha.. T&P for you and baby Nash.

Thanks Claire1979 for my awesome siggy.
I'm sorry Nash couldn't come home with you right away, I would be sad too. But what an alert little boy! He looks like a fighter, and I'm sure he'll catch on soon. Congrats on your precious baby!
Those are beautiful pictures of your handsome little Nash. I'm sorry you had to leave him behind but hopefully his eating will get better and he'll be home soon.
Thanx girls. I love him so much, I just want him home with me. When he was first born his hair was very blonde, like dirty with these frosted like tips. By morning it was more of an auburn (thanx to my side of the family lol) with blonde high lights, the pictures don't do justice really as it only seems to pick up the red but there are actually high lights of blonde through out it too which makes it appear like a coppery blonde. He looks VERY similar to Levon when he was first born, thankfully Nash escaped the big ears my side of the family seems to hand out and got his daddys.
Just now saw this...
I'm so sorry that Nash wasn't able to come home with you He is a gorgeous little man though Leasha and I am sure that he will fight his way through this!! I will be thinking of you

he is sooo beautiful!!!! i'm so glad he'll be home soon! Both Brandon and Kaylee are lazy eaters and it caused issues so both had / have to be bottle feed - not what i wanted but ultimately being home and healthy is what i want! Come on Nash!! Congrats again mama!!
