I'm on JM all of the time, so I don't really have any big updates. But, I've asked for some advice recently and I wanted to let you know how things have worked out.
DIAPER RASH: Apparently, it wasn't the wipes....or the detergent I washed the CDs in.....or any of the other causes I thought were to blame. The magic cure? Making sure her bum was nice and dry before putting on the diaper. I let her air dry as much as possible or I pat her dry before I put on the cream. Oh, and I still am using the California Diaper cream because it does work and it smells so yummy!
BEDTIME: Knock on wood, I think we've figured it out. I believe it was Kris who suggested that the bath may have been making Betsy more alert -- that seems to have been part of the problem. I tried a couple of nights without baths and she went down easily. Now, I give her a bath around 5pm and then we still play for a while. And, if she takes a little nap in the late afternoon, I let her sleep. She gets her last bottle around 7. Whether or not she's asleep, I put her into her cradle, put on her music and her twilight turtle, give her a kiss and close the door. She fusses for up to half an hour, but she isn't crying any more.
PHOTO SHOOT: She had her photo shoot today. I forget which one of you ladies suggested putting the bib on her before hand, but THANK YOU! Miss Drools-a-lot didn't get anything on her pretty dress! I also relaxed about the crying and even ordered a picture with a pout and tears in her eyes.
Anyway, thank you for always offering great advice! I really appreciate it and I just wanted to let you know! You girls are great and I'm so glad that I have support like this.

I'm so glad that everything seems to be going your way!!!
Not to hijack or anything, but I was going to write a similar post thanking everyone for the support. Without you girls, I would have given up breastfeeding a LONG LONG LONG time ago. But thanks to you, I stuck with it and it seems to finally be getting easier! I think Eli is finally getting the hang of it and BFing is easier for him -- which means less pain for mommy!
So to those of you who encouraged me to push through the pain and who told me that it would get better over time.... THANK YOU!
I just love you girls! It's hard to believe that we've known each other for almost a year now! Ok.... Mrs. Sentimental over here.... and I TOTALLY hijacked! Sorry Amy!

I was just thinking about you and the diaper rash today, actually Glad to hear you figured it out!
And you need to share some of those professional pictures of sweet miss Betsy! I bet they are gorgeous!
Oh, and I'm glad bedtime is getting better, too. Now do you think Besty could remind Max how to go to sleep? My amazing sleeper had a fit last night from 4-6:30 am.
So funny! I was totally thinking about Betsys' butt this AM when I was changing Rykers' morning diaper! lol I'm so glad things are finally working out.
Yeay!!! I'm glad things are going better...Oh and a diaper rash trick i learned is after you do the wiping put cornstarch on the butt, then the diaper - that absorbs all the extra moisture - kaylee had a bad rash last week too from having tons of poo. Again, i'm soooo glad to hear things are going better

Ditto Ditto Ditto to Kelli and Jeanine on the breastfeeding! Although I am supplementing, I still BF Nat as much as possible and it is much easier now. I would have given up long ago without all the support from you ladies! Amy, I am so glad things are getting easier and less rashy I really hope we get to see those pics on here, especially the pouty one. I think they are even cute when they are crying! Natalie's whole bottom lip turns down into a perfect upside down U and it is sooo sad.

I am so happy you found a solution to both problems! How are her daily naps going?
I really cant wait to see those pictures!!!
The naps are still a struggle. Some days she takes really good naps, some days she doesn't. Some days I can get her to sleep in her cradle and other days will find her passed out on me (which I know doesn't solve the problem, but the little girl needs to sleep and sometimes, that's the only place she'll do it!). With just a couple of weeks left before maternity leave ends, I've decided to just "roll" with it -- I'm not going to stress out about the lack of a napping schedule. She'll nap when she needs to.
I can't post pics from the online album. I have to wait until I pick up the pics before I can post them.

I had a similar problem with Kya gettin a bit of a rash...then I noticed it seemed to get worse a lil after baths...so I, like u, just started making sure Kya air dried after her bath before I put a diaper on her...she would get it at other times but mostly then...I was so worried about her getting cold I would rush to dress her after her bath and not even think about it.
Kelli, Jeanine, and Kelly-I'm glad BFing is going much better!
Kelli-Has anyone ever checked for a tongue tie on Eli? I remember reading something long ago that it may cause pain for the mom because of the way baby latches if they have a tongue tie. My oldest's tongue tie was so severe he couldn't BF. By the time we got it clipped he was ADDICTED to the bottle so Ihad to keep pumping.
