Hey BF mommies, how many times per day to you breast feed these days? I am going back to work in a month and trying to figure out how to arrange Milan's breast feeding needs. Would it be enough to nurse him at 6:30 am then let him drink regular milk in day care. I still have to figure out how to get him to take full bottle or sippy. Any ideas? How much should he take while he is in day care. I could be home around 6 pm again to nurse him and then nurse him again before bed time. Does this sound like enough? I am so stressed over going back to work. Milan will be 9.5 months old once I go back.

Thanks!

I have no advice since Kierson still nurses on demand and doesn't eat foods really.

Rayne nurses once in the morning and once right before bed. She gets 3 bottles of formula throughout the day, 5 oz each. That's all she'll take.

Luke gets BM 4 times a day. He nurses at 6:30 and then takes 2 bottles that are 7oz each at daycare. He drinks them around 10:30 and 3:30. He also gets solids twice while at daycare. He eats solids again when we get home around 5:30 and then Nurses to sleep at 7:00.

Good luck hon! I know it's hard.

Wren nurses 5 times a day-once first thing when she wakes up and then pretty much every 4-5 hours after that plus before bed. As for advice on introducing formula or milk, I don't have any! As you know, Wren has never taken a bottle either. Best of luck, Karina!

Exact same answer as Amy's! Sorry I have no advice on the bottle! I hope you can figure something out!

Gideon nurses for a long time in the mornings when he first wakes up, has 1-2 8oz bottle/s of regular whole milk in the afternoon and nurses a tiny bit before bed.

Evan nurses 4-5 times during the day and 2 times at night. He eats a small amount of solids 3 or so times per day. He still won't take a bottle or sippy cup. Sorry I can not really offer any advice. I am sure your LO will take to it once he gets into the routine though. I bet if I withheld a nursing or two, Evan would eventually take a bottle because he would be hungry.

Elaina nurses around 6:30A, 10A, 2P, 6P, 8P (bedtime) and usually once during the night too, she also eats solids 3x a day, although sometimes that's just yogurt, depends on her mood....no help with the bottle as E won't take one either.

Here too. She's been nursing 6x a day this week because she's teething and cranky.
Amanda's schedule is fantastic and I think it could work for you too. *I* wouldn't use milk just yet unless you cleared it with your pediatrician. If you can't pump a supply of BM then you should probably use formula during the hours you're separated.

Rachel nurses 5 times during the day on the weekends and twice during the week. I always nurse her at 6:15 AM and then she has three 6oz bottles at daycare plus one stage 2 solid. Then once we get home I feed her another stage 2 meal and she nurses before bed. If you aren't able to pump I would probably send formula until Milan is a bit closer to a year unless your ped says it's fine to start regular milk early.

As for getting him to take a bottle that is a hard one. I started a bottle early with Rachel because I knew I would be going back to work when she was 12 weeks. I would probably try to have someone other then youself give him a bottle once a day when you know for sure he is hungry.

Reid nurses about 4 times a day, and a couple times at night. Usually every 4-5 hours.

Thanks for the info ladies. I think we will end up taking two bottles at day care. I will go and pick up some formula. I am a little worried about lack of nutrients and we will not be seeing his doctor for another couple weeks but have to start practicing now.

Chase is still sleeping in the morning when I leave for work, so I pump in the morning before I leave. I have stopped pumping at work since I have a huge freezer stash. When I get home, I nurse Chase around 6:00 PM and then again when he goes to bed at 8:30-9:00 PM. He doesn't drink much while I'm gone because he is too busy and nosy to drink his bottles. On a good day, he will have two 8 oz bottles while I'm at work.
