Can someone give me an idea of what to give as a gift to a 2 year old. I am thinking crafts related. It is for a boy and my budget is $25. I am looking for something that could keep him put for 10- 15 minutes He is a very active little boy and tends to get i trouble a lot because he likes to play with anything but his toys.

Kensley LOVED fingerpaints (still does), and they have the aquadoodle mat, too. I don't think it's too young or old for kids at all Not sure of boy things, haven't entered that world yet

I don't really know any 2 year olds that are into crafts beyond scribbling in a coloring book or on paper, but what about something like

Jillian looooooved the Scribble and Write, but she was three when she had that. Two might be too young for it, I think, because you have to trace letters, shapes and numbers. I can't really imagine a 2 year old doing that, but I could also be wrong.. lol

I wasn't sure if it was a birthday gift for a kid turning 2 or a Christmas gift for a kid already 2. Just like the first year of life, the second year the kid changes and grows a ton too!

That's also a good suggestion, Brooke. I really love all the Leap Frog stuff! The boys have learned so much from playing with those toys!

Playdough? as long as there is some one there so he doesn't eat it he might last awhile there... I would get a few tubs and a roller and a "knife" (plastic not sharp) and some cookie cutter stuff... they probably have sets???

also a mega doodle board is fun

edit** you could even make playdough and give her the recipe so if he likes it she can make more. I can get my recipe if you want it..... our last batch lasted a couple month in a good ziploc bag

Leap frog i agree has a lot of great stuff -- painting things have always been big with DS - or even Playdoh!

Boys love vehicles, so some good brands that offer eco-friendly and high-quality products are Green Toys, HAPE, and Automoblox. I'm a big fan of toys that are nicely made and durable enough to handle rough play!

Check out The Toy Wall (thetoywall (dot) com)...they have great ideas for young boys. Toy Insider's site is pretty good too!

Wow girls, lots of great stuff. I decided to go with the paint. He has a lot of electronic toys and I did not feel like adding another one.. Or maybe I will for his 3rd birthday. The boy turned two in October.
Thanks for the playdough recipe Callie. I think I will take you up on it for Milan. I don't see this boys parents as playdough making type, but I would love to do it myself in a couple of month. For now he will definitely end up eating it all.. lol
