So many emotions, but I'm really just ready to be done. Hes five days short of being 17 months, but I'm okay with that. I wanted to nurse as long as Elliana (19 months), but I'm trying not to feel so guilty. I believe this is best for both of us. He is doing really well drinking from sippy cups, so I want to continue that route. Its been a struggle, especially now that his teeth decide to pop through!! WORST timing ever for teething! I just knew he was going down to bed too easy and willing.. So now we are back to fighting and crying at bedtime! I'm hoping once we are officially done nursing and hes used to going to bed on his own, things will only get smoother.
Here's to hoping we make it through this teething, finally weaning and SLEEPING all.night.long!
That's great, Megan!! Don't feel guilty, every baby and every situation is so different! It is much better this way, to wean now and feel happy with it, than to fight for two more months just to get to the same point as E and really start resenting that time and the nursing relationship because you are ready to be done.
As far as sleeping, it will get better! Especially if he is teething. Max is usually a dynamite sleeper, and he's been having major issues the past week or so because of his teeth. It's hard for him to fall asleep; he wakes up more; and it's harder for him to fall back to sleep once he's awake. However, it does get better once the teeth are through and he's not in pain. Maybe try a dose of Tylenol or ibuprofen before bed to take the edge off the pain and help him fall asleep?

Thank you, Alethia, for the absolutely perfect siggy!
Good for you all. Sounds like he transitioned pretty well and now, he's just facing those dang teeth! I agree with Amy, as soon as they really pop through, you'll have a sweet sleeper on your hands I hope it's soon!

YAY!!! I'm so excited for you!! It's been awesome reading your updates throughout the past several months. You started with such frustration, then determination, some setbacks, and then SUCCESS!!!! So happy for you! You've done amazing despite the struggle, you should be very proud of him, elliana, and yourself!!
That is emotional! Hope it translates to improved sleep very soon. And BTW, you did awesome! 17 months is incredible! high five*
We're still nursing here but it's more habit for her than need or nutrition. She's just as happy snuggling with her daddy to get drowsy as she is nursing for the scant 5 minutes or so she snuggles with me. I'm on the fence about weaning. We're both physically ready to be done but I'm emotional about it. My older two nursed until almost 13 months and I was ecstatic when it was over. I'm older and more sentimental this time around. I know I should plan to wean before my trip next month but I keep hoping she'll choose to stop on her own before then so I don't have to feel guilty about it.
