I don't want people to think this is a competition or that I posted this to make anyone feel badly. Kids will excel and struggle in different areas! I just wanted to see how they are doing as they approach their 2nd birthdays. Which ones can your kiddo do/not do?

2 Year Old Milestones for Motor Skills
  • Can jump with two feet
  • Can kick a ball
  • Can climb up stairs
  • Can climb up furniture
  • Can open a door
  • Uses a spoon and cup fairly well
  • Draw and color (but don’t expect them to stay in the lines)
  • Ride a tricycle
  • Undress and dress herself (other than more difficult tasks like buttoning
2 Year Old Milestones: What to Expect From Your 2 Year Old
  • or tying shoes)

•Can jump with two feet: Most of the time. Sometimes she still gets one foot off the ground before the other
•Can kick a ball Pretty sure she's done this, she prefers doing other things outside though
•Can climb up stairs Not on her feet unless we hold her hands (she can't reach the hand rail)
•Can climb up furniture Most of the time now (again, she's a shorty so she can't always get her leg high enough)
•Can open a door Nope-can't reach most door knobs
•Uses a spoon and cup fairly well YEP!
•Draw and color (but don’t expect them to stay in the lines) She loves to color and play with stickers
•Ride a tricycle Nope-can't reach the pedals! She loves her car though
•Undress and dress herself She will step into pants/shorts and try to pull them up and helps put her arms into shirts, but she would have no clue without help!

Lucy can do all of those very well, except for putting her own clothes on. When she does it herself, arms end up out of neck holes.. She's behind with her speech, but I think it's because she's more focused on those motor skills. I also think she's naturally athletic, which runs in my family. Jillian did not get those genes..

Oh, and she's never been around a tricycle to try it, so I don't know about that one!

Myles can do all of those things (He's a bit older than the rest) so he can also reach the pedals on most bikes. He also gives Mason bike with training wheels a whirl every now and then.

We do need to work on getting dressed - he can do it, but will say "you do Momma".

I screwed up when I put the source link on there.

The OP should say
Undress and dress herself (other than more difficult tasks like buttoning or tying shoes)

If any of these kids can tie shoes I'd be really shocked! Maybe my boys are lazy but Nathan didn't do it until 4 and even now at 7 he still gets them pretty loosely tied and on gym days he asks me to redo them before he goes into school and Lukas won't even TRY!
