Hello Everyone,
I am 100% new to justmommies.com. My husband and I have been trying to concieve our first child now for about 10 months and have been unsuccessful. I am really looking for some support from some people that are going through similar instances or have gone throught this before. I am terrified that we arent going to be able to have children. I know that 10 months isnt that long but it seems like forever already. I go to the OB/GYN - END on Monday and I really have no idea what to expect. Has anyone seen an Endocrinologist yet? What happened on the first visit? Should I bring my husband? Please any support would be appreciated! I could really use some friends in similar situations.

Welcome! I know you have found a wonderful place full of support, info, advice and friendship. I'm Cris (28) married to Shawn (32) and we've been ttc since August 2007. I don't know much about what you would need to ask/ bring for your appointment, but I wanted to wish you a lot of luck. Please let us know how it goes for you! Good luck in your TTC journey and don't be afraid to post away!
I know that you will love it here! My name is Shanna (27), and I'm in my 3rd month of TTC. I can't wait to get to know you better. Everyone is so warm and welcoming...I hope that you stay here is short in comparison to how long you have been trying. You are not alone with your frustrations! Why don't you tell us a little more about yourself...
What do you do for a living?
How long have you and DH been married?
Do you have any pets?

I have not actually been to an RE, but my GYN has started some testing. I am Carmen (28) and DH is 30. We have been trying for a little over a year now. At my annual exam this year I talked to my gyn about my TTC concerns. She took copies of all the BBT charts I had. I have irregular, long cycles so she started me on clomid this cycle to make my ovulation more predictable. DH had a semen analysis done and we got those results yesterday. Low count and motility, but not completely zero. So that may be part of the problem.
This cycle I am going to have progesterone levels checked at CD24 and next cycle I will have a HSG done (they inject dye up through your cervix and run fluoroscopy (moving x-rays) to watch if the dye moves up your tubes, it can diagnose several abnormalities including blocked tubes, but sometimes if the tubes are only blocked with junk not actual scar tissue it will clear them out. )
Since it was really just my annual exam DH did not go with me. He collected the semen sample and took it into the lab with an order written by my doctor without actually seeing him. Since you are actually going to an RE taking your husband depends on the situation. I doubt they will do any tests with him that day, but I could be wrong. When you have the appointment set up, you can always call and ask if they recommend he come along for the visit.
I have not been to an Endocrinologist. When I went to my doctor appointments and sonogram, SO did not come with me. As far as I know, the woman should get looked at first, then after the woman is checked out, and still problems ttc, then the man gets checked out, or you both get evaluated again. Sometimes it's not always bad to hear something is a problem. When I went and got checked, and found out I have mild endo, I was upset, but glad to know what was going on. I'm not on any treatment because its so minimal, I am ttc early because it could get worse and cause me some problems....GOOD LUCK SWEETIE AND WELCOME!!
Hello! to TTC #1 board!!! You will fit in with us cuz we all have different reasons we can share our experiences with you!
I've been TTC since Fall 2006. On Monday I have appt with OB/Gyn for Pap and talk about next step-fertility testing to find out what's going on between me and DH.
I'm 26 and my DH is 32. He's diabetic so we THINK that's the problem we haven't gotten pregnant.
Welcome! Good luck with the doc. I had great results with my doc being pro-active instead of making us wait forever to take a step. By the way, I'm Courtney (31) and my DH is Chris (30). We've been TTC since Novemberish, but with Clomid since Jan. 14th or so.
Most first RE visits are a consultation, and most women bring their husbands. There is a lot of information given and a treatment plan is devised. Sometimes, depending on where you are in your cycle (if you are on CD 2 or 3), the RE might do a scan and run your baseline hormone levels. Most of them want a semen analysis done as well as an HSG before starting treatment.
Welcome! I'm April (35) and my DH is Jake (27), we've been TTC since June 2007 (officially went off BCP in Feb2007 before DH's deployment). Glad to have you with us and looking forward to getting to know you. This is a wonderful group of ladies! Good luck with your doctor visits and feel free to ask anything you want or need to know. Most of us have been through it or experienced it. We love to give our support and share with others. HOpe your road to a is short and sweet!
Hi and
I am April and one of the co-hosts of the board! I have been to an RE but that was after I had my third miscarriage so our circumstances are different. I would bring your DH for moral support more than anything. My DH always goes with me to the consultation type appts. They may do an exam but just have DH stand by your head! Good luck to you and let us know how your appt goes tomorrow!!!! And most of all welcome to JM...I know you will love it here. The girls here are wonderful! Don't hestate to jump on in and post away! Nothing it TMI around here and feel free to ask any question you have!!!
