My friend has a 2 month old little girl and her fiance is out of town. So, O and I offered to go visit and help her out a little, since this is the first time that she's been alone for more than a workday w/ the baby. We went over and it was a freaking blast. I know that parenting isn't all fun and games, but it was just so nice to interact with a little baby. She was fussy, she cried, and my friend said, "Oh, I'm sure this will make you not want to have kids," (she doesn't know that we are TTC--no one does, yet; trying to avoid "how's the babymaking going?" and similar questions) and we just laughed and said we were having a ball. It really kicked Baby Need into overdrive. Plus, it was the first time that O and I got to work together on trying to calm and entertain such a young baby. It was a very sweet evening. And then it turned bittersweet b/c it just made me really yearn for a child of our own.

I'm sure you all relate.

I am glad you had a good time, and I totally understand what you are saying! My BFF's little girl is precious, and I love being with her with DF, but it makes me heart hurt a little bit.

I do know exactly how you feel! My best friend has an 8mo. old little girl. I love being around her. I just hope and pray that one day I will be able to experience a baby of my own!!

I've been where you are! My DH and I always seem to end up babysitting all the little ones in the family and while it's a blast and we love it, it's hard knowing that I don't get to do that on my own with our own baby yet. I just keep telling myself that someday it will happen!

I've totally been there too. Just this week we went over and held and played with DH's cousin's baby. It was so cute to see DH playing with him. But it made me a little sad too because I can't seem to give that to him.
