Yay...I am excited to be getting a nephew. This will be the first, all of the others are nieces. I am going to head up to the hospital in the next couple of hours. Last I heard she is 3cm and 60% effaced. She has been there for about 2 weeks. This is an exciting day...

If course I am a little sad, because I realized that Tristan will be nearly one before I have a child if I get pregnant in the next few months. My nieces will be 2, 3, and 5. They are all growing up so fast, and my little ones are going to be left behind... (

Congrats on the new newphew!! It'll definitely be fun since he's the first! Try not to think about your kids "being left behind". Mine will be too. And they can form their own group w/older cousins to look up to.

Yay!!! That's exciting! I hope your nephew and his mama have a very easy labor and delivery! Nephews are the best! I can't wait for an update! I'm sure he'll be adorable!

I'm sorry you feel that your kids will be left behind. I used to think that too as I hoped the age gap between my nephews and my children would be smaller, but my SIL pointed out that I can use her kids as guinea pigs- see what playgroups and activities are worth getting involved in, what teachers are the best etc... Once I thought about it that way, things seemed a little better. Plus, I know my kids will have their rough and tumble cousin's looking out for them!

Baby Tristan is here. 6lbs11oz and 19 inches long. He is beautiful and has a head full of dark brown hair. I only got to see him briefly last night, but we are going by the hospital tonight after work to visit for a while longer.

I hope the next baby in my family is mine. After seeing him, I am so longing for one of my own.

I had my first nephew on nOv 10 last year... (I have 3 nieces and DH has 3 nieces) and i understand about the age gap. but i agree with Cris... use them as guinea pigs and SIL's would be able to help out iwth advices, etc.
