I'm totally confused

FF just gave me crosshairs, but I had 3 positive opk results that day and the 2 following? Do you know what that means, if anything? Thanks!

Looking at your chart, CD13 was the first day before your spike temp. That's when you are considered to ovulate. FF is right. Hope you BD and caught that eggie and happy 2ww!

Since you ovulate 12-36 hours after your first OPK, it is possible that you O on the first day of a +OPK. I always do. It also could be that you tested the day before and got a negative, then your LH surge started sometime later that day. KWIM? For example, if you take your OPK at 9 am, and get a negative, then your LH surge actually starts a 2 pm that same day. If you didn't test until the next day, you already missed hours of your surge. Make sense? Around O, I usually use OPKs twice per day so that I don't miss anything. I have a short LH surge (compared to others) so it could easily be missed if I weren't testing with OPKs twice per say.

Also, pay really close attention to your other body signs. If you can learn your CM and body signs, you can probably learn to pinpoint O without OPKs (although I still use them anyway as a second check).

Good Luck to you! I also do agree with FF about your O date.

It can go either way. I had 3 days of + OPKs last cycle, and I ended up O'ing on the third. As far as your temps go, I'd say that the CH's on FF are right, or may be moved ahead one day in a few days.. Good luck!

Some people say that once you get your first positive on an OPK, you'll O 12-36 hours after that and they say that testing after that is pointless. Is that true? I'm not sure... I still test for a day after I get a positive so I can't say I follow the "rule" myself. I do think that FF is right though!

I'm kind of confused myself now. I thought a temp spike was a temp higher than your pre O temps. Well looking at your chart CD 14 temp doesn't look high enough to be a temp spike, so ladies wouldn't that mean she didn't O on CD 13? I would have thought you O'd on CD 14 since your temp spiked past your post O temps on CD 15. I'm so confused!?

Yes, thats exactly what is confusing me as well! This is my first month temping, and I was sooo happy to see crosshairs, but it doesnt make a whole lot of sense that my lh would still be surging 2 days afterwards?

1) FF *might* change your CHs to one day later. The thing is, you only recorded temps and OPKs. IF you had recorded CM as well, you would have a much clearer picture.

2) It totally depends on the brand of OPKs that you use as to how many days you get +OPKs. The Answer dipstick brand is notorious for giving you several days of +OPKs. Other brands I have only had 2 days. I will also tell you that I use a CBEFM, and I get two peak days every cycle and I have ALWAYS O'd on the first peak. So to answer your question it is totally possible to have already O'd and still be getting +OPKS.

Ah...maybe thats it....they were the Answer brand opks. Either way, I'm really just happy to see that my temp rose like it should. I only used opks last month and was totally clueless as to when and if I o'd at all. If I don't get my BFP this month, I'll track CM next month, but that is a whole-nother confusing venture in and of itself! I'm sure I'll be back with more questions

Thanks for your help ladies, you guys really are great!!

A good resource for this whole journey is the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". I had a MUCH clearer picture of how to classify CM after reading it. There are also lots of other things in there to learn. I highly recommend reading it.

my thoughts exactly. CD 14 is just as plausible for O date as CD 13. women's bodies all are different - some have an immediate rise in temp, some have stair-step pattern, etc. - in this case, FF is at worse off by a day, so testing should still be about the same time...
