Can you define irregular to me? Mine vary from 27-37 days long and that for me is what I think of irregular. I do think that temping helps because although your cycle lenth may vary your LP is usually the same thus giving you a more accurate idea of when you should expect AF and when you ovulate. Hope that helps!

I think mine are kind of irregular. Last cycle was 28 days for me but this cycle and previous ones are going on 40+ days.
What I have found that is helping me is temping, checking CM and CP. I am just now getting the CP part. I heard it may take a couple months to know exactly what is high, low, soft, and firm, etc...but it is helping me.
I have found that doing all three of these things lets me know when I O, and therefore I know how long my cycle will be (approximately).
I hope this helps!

My cycles were irregular before fertility meds... I would have a few 30-something day cycles which was great, then a random 50+ day cycle. AF would never show up for me in those long cycles, though, so my OB would prescribe Provera to bring on AF- that usually jumpstarted me for a few more "normal" cycles before AF would go missing again. If your cycle gets too long, you might want to keep your OB/GYN informed- they can always try to help get your cycles on track. Good luck!
