I've been running a temp of between 100.4-100.9 this afternoon. I was just wondering at what point should I go to the ER to get checked out. I took 2 tynelol about an hour ago and my temp is just not going down. I feel mostly fine...my head is all stopped up and I seem to be coughing some. I had thought it might be just allergies/sinuses, but now I'm thinking not. I'm just now getting to were I even feel warm. FOr a while if I got uncovered I started freezing. I've talked to my mom and if it gets to 102 I'm headed for the ER.

That sounds about right to me, although I am not sure. But I think if it reaches 102 I would go to the ER. It also somewhat depends on what your normal temp is. My normal temp is around 97, so 100 is higher for me than someone who's temp is normally 98.6. Hope you feel better!!

My temp is usually close to 96.8 than 98.6....I was only concerned becaues I'm pregnant. Got my BFP on 9-23. I'm starting to feel better and my temp appears to be breaking now, but I'm not sure its going to stay down...it could be the tynelol finally starting to touch it. I really don't feel that bad...in fact I felt better after my temp went up than I had most of the morning. I felt pretty rough for about 2 hours because I just couldn't get warm. I'm finally warm and now I'm sweating so here's hoping whatever this is, is on its way out!

I would drink some tea and go to sleep. If you're still not feeling good go to the ER, have you tried a cold press on your head?
(ER bills run high, my last ER bill was 4k but I only needed to pay $50 because of my insurance, but if you don't feel good and you feel like you should go, then go to the ER now) I had to go to the ER, I was dehydrated and couldn't keep any fluids down.
I didn't know you were prego! If you feel bad, I'd go if it doesn't go down within the next 2 hrs.

If anything, I would goto the urgent care over the ER. They can do pretty much the same thing at urgent care and it will cost you way less out of pocket. When I have something like strep throat, I'll goto urgent care and only have to pay my copay and then $10 for a script of antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon!

I agree about going to urgent care. But this is VERY VERY VERY important. You need to drink lots of fluids. Preferably water. It's very easy to become dehydrated when you have a fever, so make sure you are getting plenty to drink. And try to rest in the meanwhile, no doing dishes or laundry or anything like that, just take it easy for a while. Keep us posted as to how you are doing!

not sure if ye have an on call nurse with your insurance. In Ireland we do so I would ring her tell her how I felt and she would give me advice and tell me if I needed to go the the ER.
So if you have anyone like that I'd ring them. But if your not better in a few hrs I'd go in.
Hope you feel better soon.

Good plan! I know if you are pregnant they want to see you or at least know what's going on. There's not much you can do except take tylenol and rest but just in case i'd let them know. It could be the flu starting, in which case you'd definitely want to start meds. GL

FYI Urgent care does not give narcotics or IVs. (I went their first before they told me I had to go to the ER, so if you're dehyrated, you may as well go to the ER)

I went to the doctor this morning and I have the flu. Their urine test came back negative, and they tried to draw blood but I was dehyrdated so they couldn't get a vein. So I got myself hydrated and went to the hopital here for a blood draw. I'm hoping to here back about it tomorrow and if I'm not pregnant I want Tami-Flu. I couldn't have it today because they are giving it to women in their first trimester! They did give me a list of medicines I could use to treat my symptoms but I still feel pretty rough. It doesnt help that DH is being a butthole today. But ladies I'm fixing to go lay down because my fever is up again.....its been down most of the day. I can tell when its up though...I feel absolutely terrible...but when its down I feel pretty good. I don't go back to school for a week, so here's hoping my body can fight this off.

You said you got a BFP on 9/23 and now you're saying you don't know if your pregnant?
I don't know how they couldn't find a vein? How old are you? I've been to the ER for dehydration MANY of times and they would not discharge you if they couldn't find a vein and are dehydrated. When you're dehydrated, your blood pressure drops and that is dangerous.
Anyway, I hope you feel better

I misread this at first too....she went to her doc first and was dehydrated, THEN went to the ER after hydrating herself. But that means that you don't have a very good doctor either. If you were too dehydrated for them to get a vein, you should have been admitted to the hospital for IV fluids.
I'm also confused on another point... "if I'm not pregnant I want Tami-Flu. I couldn't have it today because they are giving it to women in their first trimester!" Did you mean that they AREN'T giving it to women in their first trimester? Because Tami-flu is not safe during ANY stage of pregnancy. It really sounds like you need to go to a new doctor and/or hospital as they are not doing what they should.
I do hope you feel better soon though. Let us know how you are when you can!

I did mean aren't giving it to women in their first trimester. I was running a temp of about 101 when I was posting that. I have since been sleeping since about 7pm this evening and its currently 215am here now. But I woke up drenched from sweat about 30 mins ago, so my fever has broken, though I still have a bit of a low grade temp. My nose is still all stuffy, but it seems that my chest congestion is breaking up and leaving me now. I'm feeling better but now my DH has it, so I'm taking him to the doctor's office today. He was running a temp of 102 a little bit ago....I've vacated the bed so he can get some rest......if I go back to sleep, I'll sleep on our couch. The best thing I did for myself was go to bed and stay there this evening. In fact I'm actually hungry now, so I'm gonna go find me something to eat. I wasn't vomiting or anything and I could keep fluids down. I had just run a very high fever all night, and I had been drinking Cran-Apple juice all morning, and had been waiting in the office to be seen for over 2 hours. So to some extent had gotten dehydrated in the waiting room. It only took one Mt Dew to get me hydrated again. And for finding another doc....I've been to other places around here and quite frankly I feel like they laugh at me. In fact the health department acted like I wasn't pregnant and I was losing my mind when their test was negative. Today my doc's office acknowledged that I have had 7 positive pregnancy tests at home, and was willing to do bloodwork for me. The health department here won't do anything for you until you have a positive urine pregnancy test.
After having 2 negative pregnancy tests at the important places, I'm just hoping for a sticky bean. I'm also hoping that I wasn't getting false postives. Though I took 1 $tree, 2 digi's, 2 answer's, and 3 first response. I did get 1 negative on a FRER. But everything else was a clear positve and the digi's of course said pregnant.
But I'm feeling better....gonna enjoy my week and take it easy...I can't go back to school until 10-12.

I certainly hope you can get a definitive answer on the pregnancy test. That would be driving me nuts.
Hope you feel better soon.
