Me and my fiance want to have a baby. We've been trying for only a month. But i'm so impatient, I want it to happen already lol. We've been planning everything, just because that's all we can think about. I think we've decided on the name Phoenix, but we're still tossing around middle names. Anyway I was wondering about the safety of water birth? I heard it's an easier transition for the baby, but i'm concerned. What if they inhale water? Is this method dangerous? And also I was wondering what I can look for as far as signs go. How early can I look for them and what will they be? And how long does it take the average couple to conceive? Whats the chances that it could be the first month we try? I was ovulating and everything... Any information would be very appreciated

Hi and welcome! I'm Dani and DH is Randy. We've been TTC our first for 11 months.

While I would love you offer you advice on waterbirths, unfortunately all of us ladies here are still TTC. You may want to try asking some of the ladies in the TTC#1 Grads sub-forum or even on the TTC board since a lot of those ladies already have children. BUT if you have ANY questions about the TTC process, the ladies here are fantastic at answering them and giving advice.

They say the average couple usually takes about 6 months to conceive. They say that if you have not conceived within a year to consult your doctor for preliminary testing.
Are you sure you were ovulating? Have you been using OPKs or taking your BBT? It is possible for you to conceive on the first try provided you have fertile CM and the timing is right, but more likely with everything else being normal it will take 3-6 months. Don't be discouraged because we have all been in your shoes!

Good luck with TTC, and I hope your stay here is short and sweet!

When I get my BFP, I plan on having a water birth at a birthing center. The inhalation of water isn't really an issue when you consider the baby actually spends the entire pregnancy in a sac of fluid.

They don't inhale water because they actually don't take their first breathe until they get out of it. It still feels like they're transitioning to them so they won't actually breathe anything in. The method is completely safe and if I hadn't been seeing my OB for so long I would transfer to a midwife myself. With all the issues I've been having I like being able to be watched so closely. But if you're having a perfectly normal pregnancy, a midwife is a perfectly safe option including water birth.
