From the doctor and all the blood tests the did came back normal. So our next step would be to have DH tested. We decided that if we are not pregnant by the first of the year we will go get him tested because of the cost because we just spent $500 to get a crown put on my tooth and with christmas around the corner we thought we hold off. In the meantime if it happens to be DH is there anything he can do or take to help his swimmers?

Happy to hear your results came back great

Have you looked into going to a urologist on your own? That's what we did and I think it cost us like $50 bucks

I've heard that B vitamins and vitamin C are great for his swimmers.

No, I didn't know we could do that. So they would do an SA and we wouldn't have to o to a RE.

It should save you a lot of money and we had the urologist send the results to my doctor.
I think it might be even cheaper if he goes to his general practioner and gets a referal to a urologist then his insurance should cover the test. It never hurts to ask.

Have can take a multivitamin, zinc, selenium and vitamin C.

Curious - what tests did the doctor do? Was this an RE or a general practitioner? Regular doctors know almost zilch about these issues.

Thanks ladies for the advice. I will have to check into those options.

This was just my obgyn. She just did a basic blood test to check my thyroid and checked to make sure my hormones weren't in premenopausal. I know she isn't a specialist but I did talk through my concerns and questions with her and she recommends having the DH tested first before I go to an RE for tests myself. She feels I should be able to get pregnant because I did once, we just don't know the reason for the miscarriage. I also had extensive ultra sound done before my d&c and nothing looked concerning or abnormal to the doctor. Of course I do know there still could be sometime with me that is preventing me from getting pregnant without further tests. I think we are going to have DH get a SA before we proceed with any tests for myself.

Yeah that sounds like a good plan. An SA is so much easier and less invasive than the tests we women have to go through, so usually that is what's done first.

No real advice on what to do....as I'm still trying to figure it out for us!! haha.

I'm sure you've read before that we're dealing with male factor infertility. I hope and pray you are not because it SUCKS!

My husband has been seeing a urologist - and has been on clomid as well as another pill to help off-set the estrogen that clomid can mess with...he has Low Testosterone (which the clomid has been helping) - low motility, low count, 0% morphology...so basically I'm just praying for a miracle! haha.

But def. see a urologist. If there is anything wrong with his swimmers, that's the doc to see.

We've been told our only option, really, is IVF with ICSI - and my insurance won't pay for it. so really it's right now, hoping for the best with the clomid and then possibly having verocile surgery (it's a vein that can affect fertility) HOPEFULLY in the near future.

I know there are some vitamins out there that he can take to help, but I'm not positive what they are. DH takes a multi + vitamin C and then just his prescriptions.

Good luck, and I truly hope he has no problems with his swimmers!!!

Yes, I have read you are dealing with this and I'm really sorry you have to deal with this. Just remember you only need 1 swimmer to meet the egg. It could happen, you just have to keep trying. I totally understand the insurance thing. Our insurance don't cover anything to do with fertility testing or procedures so I'm not sure what we are going to do if we don't get pregnant.

Good luck, I hope you get your miracle!

I need to get my hubby tested too... I havent because if his numbers are low I know it would be really hard on him... but since Mark and I have been talking about the possibility of adoption I just said we NEED to know what we are dealing with... so I just need to set up a appointment and have him go...

Even though it's an easy test for the guys, I do understand it's stressful for them. No guys want to her there swimmers are to par. I really hope it's not the guys and that it will happen naturally. That's great you both are open for adoption. My husband asked me if I would be interested in adopting if it doesn't happen for us, I was kind of surprised and would love to adopt at some point. I'm not quite ready to go down that road yet.

Gl, do you think you will have him go soon? Have you had any tests down?
