I am going down to Memphis this weekend for the St. Judes marathon weekend. Does anyone else run on here? Did you stop running while ttc? Did you cut back? What were you advised to do by your doctor? My typical race distance is 13.1.
Running is my escape and my coping mechanism for the stress in my life.
I cant help but wonder though if my running will prevent, prolong, or in some way complicated ttc.
Just wondering if anyone else was in the same boat.
Yep, I was a runner - been running since I was 13 (now 36). I used to do triathlons, then track/cross country in high school, then in college, I found it hard to train 3 sports for tri's, so I focused on running - switched to marathons. I had to slow down over the years b/c I jacked up my knees (9 knee surgeries) - but I still run every now and again, my last 1/2 was a year ago. From what I've heard, running shouldn't do anything negative for TTC...but that's not from a doctor directly, just from things I've read and such!
I also run and continue to run while ttc. Most doctors will say you can continue to run while ttc and even once your pregnant has long as its comfortable for you. They just don't recommend if you are not a runner don't start training for a marathon. You can always check with your doctor if it would make you feel more comfortable but it shouldn't hinder you ttc. I just wouldn't push yourself beyond you limits.
