My boyfriend and I (or actually I just mean I) have talked about getting married for a while now and he has always told me he is NOT ready. Absolutely not.
Yesterday he texted (!) me and told me that he will marry me! He's ready and he thinks we should be engaged before getting pregnant. So, it's semi official until he gets me a ring (in a month or so when he has more cash!!). I am very happy. For me it's not about getting married, I really am in no rush, it was about someone wanting to marry me.... if you know what I mean? That someone really loves me that much!?!?! Ha ha!
Anyway.... we've only been together for two years.... so I think being engaged now is great - but I plan on at least a year engagement....
Wooo hooo!

WOOO HOOO congrats!!! Dh and I were "engaged" without the ring for a little bit. It was really nice, because I at least knew it was happening in the near future and yet he had time to do it his way too. We actually booked the venue, about a month before the ring...I swear I wasn't being pushy we just stumbled upon a winery we loved and decided to ask them to hold a date while we were there.

Thanks everyone! I am excited too! I am getting to choose my ring so I know what it looks like - I can't wait to get it!! I am having a replica made of my favourite ring of all time! lol

I completely understand what you mean. I think for women, the whole process is so important! In my case, DH and I had already planned to marry for awhile before we were *officially* engaged, so I had the "someone wants to marry me" feeling. But then he almost passed up the engagement (and the ring!  ) altogether! Since we were going to be married soon, he didn't get what difference it made to be engaged first. I calmly explained to him that if we didn't get engaged I would die, and I needed my diamond now please and thanks.
Anyway, congratulations!
