Hi Ladies.

Just interested in your stories really and how they compare to mine.

Ive been on the pill roughly 8 years and me and DH decided i should stop taking it in September2011.

I have only had two cycles since first on 49 days long and 47days.

on the last cycle i had spotting on day 16 and then on day 46 had a minor car accident and straight after experienced really bad cramps the AF showed her ugly face the following day

Unsure if it was related to accident or not but there you go.

Just wanted to know if any of you also had/have long cycles and how long did it take to get down to a smaller cycle???

Sophie x

Hi! My cycles have always been pretty regular - 27 to 29 days. But I'm sure some other ladies with longer/irregular cycles will chime in!

After I stopped taking the pill it took me almost 2 years for my cycles to become normal again. Now mine are 32-36 days long. If it takes you awhile to regulate I may say to go see a dr, but everyone is different and some take longer than others. It's normal! The pill can really mess with you!!

Thanks Ladies.

Really wish I had come off it sooner!!! I will give it a couple of months and go to Dr. Although she is a bit of a hard faced cow and will prob turn me away until its been a year.

I guess i just kinda expected everything to be normal straight away and to get pg straight away lol.

Do you remember what your cycles were like prior to going on the pill? They say it should take 3 to 6 months for your cycles to go back to "regular", which would be your regular prior to BCP.

For me they didn't regulate on their own and I learned I had PCOS so my cycles were all over the place. As long as I stay on my metformin they are about 30 days

My cycles are about 40 days, give or take. I've had some annovulatory ones though that last FOREVER (one was around 90 days I believe).

But I have PCOS, so that's just part and parcel with it, and since I'm not taking anything, they've stayed relatively stable in the 40 day range.

When I first came off bcp my cycles were normal, a 28 day cycle. Now my cycles vary between 25-28 days. GL, I hope you cycles regulate.

I don't think my information will be of much assistance to you, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I was never able to take BCP. They make me sick and throw my hormones all out of whack. I did use Nuvaring from time to time, but never for more than a year straight (most recently about two or three years ago). My cycles would vary a lot, often alternating between a "normal" cycle (27-28 days) and a long cycle (32-36 days). I noticed a big difference once I started taking prenatals and stopped drinking alcohol & coffee. I'm not sure which change caused it, but I stopped having the long cycles.

I hope your body gets back to normal soon! Best of luck!

Thank you, I dont drink alcohol or coffee either since started trying (except NYE) and even drinking caffeine free tea now.

Well i think im going to start charting in a couple of months and try and get to know my cycles better and see if DR thinks its an issue or not.

Well that does all depend on this cycle im still staying positive that i'll get a BFP

Stranger things have happened ay!!

If you don't want to do all the charting, temping, OPK's, checking other signs (which you don't need to when you first start, let it be fun for as long as you can!) you can still sign up on FF for free or whatever program you'd like to use and just chart your cycle with AF days. Will give you an idea within 3 months what's going on! But, hopefully you don't need 3 months

oh yah, don't ask what I've spent on sticks in the last 3 years!

If you think your cycle will be 30 days as an example, typically before you know anything, you always assume your LP is 14 days, meaning you'd O on CD16. I don't know how familiar you are with the lingo?? So in that case, start your OPK's on about CD12 or 13 and you should see a + on CD14 or 15. You typically see your surge 1 or 2 days prior to O'ing. You can miss your surge though, so some people have to test 2 times a day to catch it because it can be quick.

Where are you from and where did you order your tests from? A lot of us use Amazon, ebay or other sites where you can get really cheap tests, like 30 for around $5, that way you can test away and not worry about running out!
