Nope. I can't wait to buy things, and I go "awwww" every time i see something cute, but I refuse to buy anything until it's going to happen... the pessimist in me, I guess!!

I do! DH and I were "window shopping" and ended up in the clearance section for babies and I found this adorable 0-3 mos outfit with a giraffe on it that says "I'm new here!". I love giraffes so DH said we should get it. It's hanging in the closet waiting for a sweet lil baby to wear it!

I have a metric crap ton of stuff! Most of it was given to me... But we have bought a few things like the cradle at a yard sale, bibs for telling my parents we're pg, a bib for telling DH, little cutesy things I've seen at the $ store, etc.

I used to think I had no business buying baby stuff, but everyone told me I'd have a baby soon enough and was totally allowed to shop! Even DH!!

Just one. A couple years ago, I was at my college's bookstore and saw THE perfect toddler shirt. It was the perfect blend of DH and me, and my school tends to have a lot of "in and out" things, and I was so afraid this was one of those. So I bought it. Normally, I'm of the mindset that I will jinx things if I buy things, so I have pretty much firmly stood to that, except this one shirt. It's packed away now, otherwise, I'd take a picture, but a picture of the shirt from their website below.

You see, DH is a HUGE Grateful Dead fan, and I am a freak about my school (University of Wisconsin) - this seemed to combine them both into one. Turns out it wasn't a limited edition, b/c they still sell it, but I just wanted to make darn sure I got it.

I bought some things to tell DH I was pregnant. Some Red Sox pacifiers and a Red Sox bib.

I have purchased baby stuff and some stuff was given to me, however I bought some clothes, a couple toys, and an awesome high chair after I had gotten pregnant before I knew I was going to miscarry. I now gave most of it to my sister (which was very hard) win the exception of the high chair, she can only borrow it.

I will not buy anymore baby items until I have a confirmed sticky bean.

I have a few things, mostly from when I got pg and I stuffed a huge shopping bag full of baby stuff to tell DH. And once on a holiday we bought a few gender neutral clothes because at the time there was no Carter's in Canada.

I also have a few things from our JM Secret Sister we did a couple years ago

not one thing. DH won't let me, he thinks its insane to buy anything without a bun in the oven. i'm annoyed but he's right. it will just make me frustrated seeing it and not being PG.

I have a lot. Some cute clothes, a changing pad with covers, a boppy, my start of my cloth diaper stash, some bottles I won, and some other random stuff that I can't think of. We are starting this week tearing our spare room apart to nursify it! So we will get that painted and get the carpet redone and have it all ready to put baby stuff in and I will start gathering more stuff then I would imagine. No matter how long it takes us to get a bfp or a baby, I would rather have time to spend very small amounts of money each month to stock up so that we don't have to do it all at once. I would prefer if we only had 9 months to get ready though

You know, I agree with you...I have been very temped to do something similar. I don't want to jinx things by buying clothes and items now, but I've been toying with the idea of every month, buying a Babies R Us or Target (or whatever) gift card for like $25, and stashing it away for baby stuff later. That way, I'm not really buying baby things, but I'm putting money towards getting ready. Once it does happen for us, maybe it wouldn't be so much $$ out of pocket at that time. Ya know?

Yet, I've been thinking this for 3 years, and do I have one single gift card? Nope.

I have ONE thing...it's a pack of Chicago Cubs Onesies...but I only bought them because that's how I want to tell DH that we're pregnant! I want to give him a "present" and ask if he think's they'll fit! hehe

(yes we are HUGE chicago cubs fans!)

that is such a cool idea! haha

another one I've thought of - ONCE i'm pregnant...every shopping trip (I go once a week) is to buy a package of diapers or something that you know you'll need a lot of...to sorta get your budget ready for baby and have it on hand once he/she comes!

I have some cloth diapers, a bouncey seat, a few onesies, a grow with my calendar, a pregnancy journal, and some things family has given. Oh and a crap ton of children's books. I buy things very rarely now. We do put $20 a week in a jar so that when we are pg it does not hit us financially. I want to get a 3d ultrasound and all kind of things and this way I know we will have the money for it. So far we have $500 put aside!!!!

When we first started TTC, I had all the baby stuff in the room we picked to be the nursery. Month after month of no luck made it a little tough seeing all that stuff, so when we got ready to move, I packed it all up.

All of the baby & maternity clothes, toys, bottles, books etc all went in tubs and into our storage unit. The only things that stayed out in our apt. were the cradle and my glider & ottoman because they wouldn't fit in the storage unit.

With our most recent move, I purged a good bit of the stuff. Part of it was because I was a bit discouraged by how long we've been trying. Some of the bibs, clothes & onesies I'd been given had stains though too and I thought "Why am I keeping this? I can buy brand new clean bibs and onesies when the time comes. Do I really wanna put someone else's stained stuff on my kid?"

Now everything fits in the closets in our spare bedroom, so I don't have to look at it every single day and we don't have to pay storage rent to keep it!!

Karin, that is one of the most brilliant ideas I've ever heard!

I'll admit to having bought a few things already, and actually even before I was ever pregnant (though after we had started TTC). I have a little pair of froggy shoes and a froggy bib (I grew to love frogs thanks to my parrot Michio back in the States. He loves frogs, and is always talking about them). We also checked out a second-hand store for kids clothes and random baby stuff one weekend for fun. I fell in love with a cute little bouncer, and even though DH thought I was crazy to want to buy it so soon, I just had to have it. The price was equivalent to about $25 and it was like new!
