I have just started to TTC this cycle. My period was about a week late but I figured it was from my job because I had been pretty stressed out at work for a while but I wasn't sure if I ovulated because I didn't have any signs that I usually notice when I do.

So now I'm on CD14 and I started having light spotting yesterday along with EWCM. I am still having light spotting today but I'm also having cervical pain. I checked my cervix yesterday, first time I have since TTC and it feels open and high.

I'm wondering if I'm ovulating and if cervical pain can be a sign of ovulation. I'm thinking maybe I irritated my cervix while checking but it didn't start hurting until this evening. I also had a pelvic exam over a week ago but there was no pain or bleeding til now.

So my questions are: Can this be sign of ovulation even though I don't usually have spotting? Is cervical pain a possible sign? Or could this be some other factor, like and off cycle or irritated cervix?

I'm probably thinking too much into it since I know I tend to do that.

Hi and Welcome! I'm Karin, one of the co-hosts of this board. Glad you've started your TTC journey!

Your cervical pain could be related to O, though I've not experienced that myself before. I also am not a CP checker, so that also may be involved. Are your cycles regular? Do you chart/temp? Have you recently come off BCP? Sorry for all the questions, but they help us all give you the best answers to your questions!

Stress can for sure throw off a cycle every now and again, but the spotting/EWCM could also be a sign of a strong O.

Feel free to introduce yourself to the rest of the board (we have a Newbies! thread somewhere on the board), and sign in to April Roll Call in stickies!

Hi Karin! Thanks for the quick response! To answer your questions, my cycles are usually regular, I just had an off cycle last month. I don't chart or temp, though I'm planning on it. I have to get a basal body therm. first. And the BCP, no, we were using condoms.

And as for the intros, I already did.

Yep, just saw that as soon as I finished responding

Ok, so it's a really good sign that your cycles have been regular and you don't have BCP "withdrawal" to muck things up. I know it took me several cycles to get regular after coming of BCP. For sure get a BBT and start charting temping. It will help you get a really good handle on your cycle and what your body does each month. When I first started this journey, I figured that all women have 28 day cycles, and everyone O's on CD 14. Wow was I wrong!

My best guess is that you are having some spotting and pain because you just checked your CP and you may be having a strong O on top of it. That's just one opinion though. I know there aren't too many ladies (regulars!) who are online right now, but hopefully tomorrow there will be a few more that weigh in with some other opinions for you!

Glad to have you with us!

Hmm I've never had that kind of pain or spotting around O time. It's possible you nicked yourself if you can reach that high and spotting could be blood left over from your exam. I know I've had procedures and had spotting a few days later, just takes time to come out. I think the EWCM is probably your best sign though that O is right around the corner. For me, I get it and then O a few days later, so I'd be gettin some bd'ing in if I were you!

Good luck

I actually have cervical pain while oing. I didn't realize this until I had my hsg test done and the slight cervical pain when they put in the catheter felt like o time to me so it definitely could be it!

I have never experienced cervical pain around O time but I have experince spotting a couple if times around O and from my understanding that is completely normal. EWCM is a great sign that you will be gearing up to O. I would start BDing!

Thanks everybody for responding! I'm no longer spotting and no more cervical pain, so hopefully that means I did ovulate. I did BD the first night of spotting so hopefully that worked. I'll definitely start charting next cycle if I don't get pregnant with this one and that way I'll have a better idea of when I O in my cycles.
