So, I am totally frustrated . I know TTC woudn’t be easy, but yet my mind wasn’t ready to accept that! This is my first cycle TTC.. even though I know chances of getting prego in first cycle are NOT good, it is so hard not to get your hopes up. Im not 100% sure when I O’ed. I watched for signs but didn’t chart. I think it was right around the 28 of March. I was due to start my period April 11 (yesterday). It never came.. and I didn’t have any signs of it coming.. so this morning I could not wait any longer and I took a First response test with FMU. It was BFN. So now I am sitting here worried.. wondering how weird or crazy my cycle is going to be?! When am I going to start?! Or if maybe I could still be prego!?

I knew you girls would understand my rant and worries. I don’t want to accept that this could be hard.. but Im sure no one wants to!

I totally understand your frustration! We're on month 7 TTC. For me in my first and second month of trying my period was late but then she came and I think it was mostly due to being stressed over everything ha ha. I would say that if you don't start here in the next few days, maybe by Monday, I would take another test, and definitely start tracking. Good luck with everything!

Your frustration is normal. We've been TTC for 3 1/2 years, and when I first came off BCP and started TTC my cycles were a little off for a while. It takes time for your body to get used to not being on all those hormones. Your cycle is probably just a little out of whack right now. Since you didn't chart or temp, it's hard to say when you O'ed...but you indicated that you may know it was around Mar 28, so that would put you about 15 DPO if your cycle was normal, and if you were correct. If you were PG, it would likely show up on a test by now, so your cycle probably didn't do what you think it did.

I would highly recommend you start charting next cycle...it will really help you see what your body is doing each month, and notice trends over time. Most of us use Fertility Friend, and love it.

You've only been TTC for one cycle, so just hang in there. It can be a short or long journey, everyone is different, but it's not easy. Keep us posted!

Like Karin said, by now it would show up on a test if that's when you O'd. That's one reason why we do stand by charting so much!! I know in past recent cycles I had all the signs of Oing, my body geared up and... nothing happened. Sometimes it'd delayed by a few days, or I'll have another surge and O a week later. It happens.

Without charting or at the very least just temping (whether you keep a chart or not), you'll have a better idea of exactly when it happened.

HOWEVER, it could be that you O'd, but AF just isn't showing her face yet. I had one where AF didn't start all the way til 16 DPO. So that can happen too.

Welcome to the wonderful world of TTC

I don't have anything to add that the ladies above haven't already mentioned. TTCing can be frustrating, just hang in there and know that we are here for you!

Just wondering if you were on any kind of BC prior to starting ttc? I found the first couple months of ttc was more about learning about my body than anything else, learning to recognize symptoms, learning my cycle, etc. Like the other girls said, if you're not temping, using OPK's, know exactly what goes on with your EWCM you won't really know when you O'd. Even if only going by 1 of those your O can be off by a couple days.

You say you think you O'd March 28th, what happened that you believe that was your day? And what day did your last cycle start? I agree with starting a chart, even if you don't want to temp or do the rest of the recording right away, you could at least just record the length of your cycle to see how long they are. That's what I did in the beginning so that I could keep ttc fun for awhile. I quickly learned my cycles were very irregular so I started temping and ended up finding out I had PCOS and having the ability to show my cycle summary helped tremendously at the doctor!

My best advice is not to stress too much right now, learn what you can but keep it fun as long as you can, it should definitely be an exciting time in the beginning of the process!

I agree with the other ladies. If you O'ed when you think you should should have gotten a pos by now but if AF doesn't show in the next few days retest.

Thanks ladies! I love all your kind words and advice.

AF showed tonight. Which actually made me kind of happy. If I wasn't going to be prego, at least having a pretty normal cycle made me happy. I will take a 29 day cycle.

I had been on birth control for a very long time. I think around 10 years. So I do know this is a lot about learning about my body. I have even noticed that my period feels and looks different... then it was when I was on Birth Control.

Im going to spend these next few days while on my period to read up on charting.. and at least start it soon. What kind of thermometer do you need?

Thanks again ladies!

You need a BBT (basal)...you can find them in most drug stores...the difference is that they record temps to the hundredth of a degree for more accuracy. You have the right attitude/approach to all this. I was on BC forever as well, and it took some time to chart/temp/read/research to figure all this out. Fertility Friend is a great resource for you as far as charting/temping, etc. Good luck!

Thanks Karin! My husband really doesn't want me to starting charting/temping until we trying for longer and it doesn't happen. I try explaining to him... its good to have a record even if it does happen soon. I think he is just scared I will start obsessing over this. I feel if I had a little bit more clue to when I Oed there would be less obessing and more knowing.

I think i might just not mention charting to my hubby any more and just do it. What he doesn't know doesnt hurt him :-p

Im a little worried about this whole TTC thing because of my work. I work in the accounting department of a construction company. We are very busy from about late June/July- Oct. So Ideally I would like not to have to be out of work during those months..I dont think they would be happy if I was. But oh well.. it is what it is. They will live I guess.. if it happens to work out that way.

A 29 day cycle is awesome When did you come off BCP? It can take 3-6 months to go back to normal, but some go back to their normal right away

If hubby isn't happy about you taking your temp every morning, there is always OPK's that you could try! Not that I'm suggesting hiding anything from him but at least those will give you advance notice of O so you know when to BD, do you think he'd go for you peeing on sticks a few days a month??

I came off BCP when I have my period the cycle before. So just about 35 days now.. so not very long at all.

Yeah , he may go for that. That is quick and easy. I will talk to him about that. Where is a good place to buy them? Online the cheapest?

Definitely online! Either ebay or amazon, I like the Wondfo brand myself, I know on ebay I can find 40 OPK's plus 10 HPT's for about $10 including shipping. Don't search for the branch, just ovulation tests and tons will come up. I'd go by your shortest cycle, count back 16-18 days from AF and on that cycle day I would start taking OPK's. Every woman is a bit different, some stay stark white until they go positive, some gradually get darker. When you think you're close to O time, take 2-3 tests a day because you can miss your surge by only testing once per day.

If you decide to start them, ask questions, take pics for us to stalk, we're here to help

The ladies gave your some great advice! I recommend taking them up on their advice and just explain to DH why it's important to chart, etc. GL.

Just remember that for it can take up to one year to conceive so try not to stress out if it takes a few tries .

I was not trying to come off "poor me" that I didn't get a BFP my first time. Trust me reading all the stories on here have totally broke my heart for a lot of you.

I just never knew how emotional all of this trying is and how complicated it really is. You send your whole life trying NOT to get prego.. Its seems as when you decide to it should just happen. I feel for all of you who have been trying for such a long time. I really can't even begin to imagine your pain and frustration. Again sorry if I made anyone upset or mad.. was not my intentions .

Thanks for all the wonderful advice too ladies!

It is ironic when you think back to how our mothers and grandmothers always made it seem like you'd get knocked up by sitting too close to a boy!!
