Thanks everyone, for both understanding my brief absence, and for your thoughts and prayers for Molly. I posted a long, somewhat detailed update in my journal, for those who would really like to read it and see what we've been dealing with the past few days. But in a nutshell, I picked her up from the hospital this morning, took her to a cardiologist, who did a cardiac ultrasound, confirmed she has a messed up heart, then put her on 3 different meds for the rest of her life. She is dehydrated (from the extreme diuretic treatment for the fluid in her lungs), underweight (lack of appetite from her heart condition+stress of ICU for 3 days), and EXHAUSTED. She can barely keep her eyes open. I left the house at 8am today, and got home at 4. Between my RE appt, and her visits, I have been to 5 doctors offices of some kind today. She is home now, resting peacefully in her own bed, and for the first time in a long time, not gasping for air or hacking when she breathes.
We still don't know how long she has left with us, but the cardiologist feels that with the right medicine cocktail, she could have as much as another year and a half! I will take another day and a half, as long as she isn't suffering. If you asked me on Sat/Sun, I would have said this is the end of her rope. If you ask me today, I say she needs to rest for a day or two, and she'll be back to her old self. Big difference some oxygen and the right meds can make.
Anyhow, thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for my girl. She's a tough cookie
