Hi ladies, I may be mia for a day or two, or at least not on as much. Last night, we rushed Molly, one our 3 dogs, to the ER vet. Her breathing became extremely labored....much more than usual. She has a pretty bad heart murmur, and has been starting to show signs of heart failure, but nothing bad until last night. We grabbed her and ran to the car, hopped in and sped to the hospital-luckily only 5 min away. In the car she started gasping and missing breaths.
P barely slowed down when I jumped out with her. They got her on oxygen right away. Paperwork, paperwork, then the vet came back, said she was in pretty bad shape, her heart was starting to fail. They put her on Lasix to get rid of some of the fluid. Everytime she took a breath you coul hear the junk rattling around in her lungs. The vet said she could hear some fluid on one side, which meant that it was partially filled, but she heard nothing on the other side, meaning it was likely totally full. Esentially she is runnimg on a bad hear and 1/2 lung. They needed to do xray, but she wasnt stable enough last night. We got to say goodbye to her throuhh her glass cage (sealed for oxygen administration), and went home.
I was/am a wreck. I was sick to my tummy last night, we got home, I tried to sleep, but was up every hour or so. They were to call at 630am with update, and they just did. She is a little better, still on full oxygen, they had to give her lasix every 2 hours (thats a lot). She is not out of the woods yet. She is there indefinetly right now...they need to get her weaned off the heavy lasix and oxygen.
she is old and sick, and we know that, but its never easy. I have had her since she was 8 wks old, and will be crushed when it is her time. I dont know how this will turn out, but please keep little Molly in your thoughts...
I am sorry if I am a bad host for a day or two, but on top of this, I am getting more side effects from the meds, and DH leaves tomorrow for 3 days...leaving me with all this on my own. I will try and be around, but pls understand if I am not
Saying a prayer for Molly and one for you for strength

Thanks everyone. No update yet, waiting for the vet to call. I am headed to RE for us/bw right now, and will *try* and post an update later/check in on everyone (SO sorry I've been a bad hostess!)....
You have NOT been a bad hostess!!! Your baby is sick and needs you. Plus, Dawn is doing a great job hosting alone (not that you are not missed! ). Don't worry about us, we all understand! My T&Ps are still with you and her!
