So FIRST off, I am back from Switzerland and let me tell you all, it was INCREDIBLE!!!!! it is insane how absolutely GORGEOUS the mountains are there!!

Course - now that I'm back, it's back to my "normal" life - stress and worry...hahaha.

As far as our fertility stuff goes - I'm hoping that next cycle we can do our first IUI!!! Course DH has to have another analysis done first...so it may not be next cycle, depending on when he can get into the doc to have it done.

Now - on to the vent. So seriously - why is it not common sense that, in polite conversation, you do NOT ask "so when are you guys going to have kids?" and then in the next breath ask, "You do WANT kids, right?"

UGH! I totally understand this person (my aunt, who - very long story short I really don't like anyways) - called me up to ask me about my trip and we start talking about family and she says how she's happy I found a good man, but then goes on to ask me those two questions. Of course my answer was canned "Yes, we want kids, but we're waiting because we want to pay some stuff off first"...and "yes, we WANT kids, we're just not ready yet"...lying through my teeth the entire time and then switching the conversation elswehere.

I just HATE when people ask me, though, "you do WANT kids, right???" like it's our choice that we're infertile? Ok, yes I know that she has no idea that we are - and I get that it's just the 'natural' progression of life after marriage, so it's a question everyone asks, but I hate that question and really wish people would STOP asking me! Sometimes I seriously want to scream "Yes, we want kids, but we're broken, now leave us alone!"

vent over. Thanks for letting me get that out. I needed to say that to people who'd understand!

So again, Switzerland was GORGEOUS!

It looks like it was GORGEOUS! I would love to go there. And I understand completely about getting the "when are you going to have kids" speech. I get it all the time from family, it's annoying. Welcome back!

Love the pics! Im so glad you had a wonderful time!

I am sorry you had to come back to that. I recently had a run in with someone I barely know asking me those questions and just blurted out we are ttc and then that led to more questions and I got really snippy with her... So I know what you mean.

Great pics! Looks beautiful.

Sorry for the trouble with your aunt... This is yet another reason why I am a big believer in telling people that it's not as easy as they think.

There is so much shame and silence surrounding infertility... It's such a shame because it winds up making this struggle more difficult and stressful than it needs to be.

I hope, in time, you will come to a place where you can share your struggle with your loved ones so that they may be more of a support than a stress to you.

Welcome back! We missed you! Those pics look amazing!

Sorry about the conversation with your aunt. We all (unfortunately) know how crappy that can feel.

I honestly do share my infertility with MOST people - but there are some people in my life (such as my aunt) who it's none of their business...lol.

it's just so annoying though, people who ask "Don't you WANT kids?" like you're this horrible person if you don't.

I actually have a friend from high school who adamantly absolutely does NOT want kids - and she's always having to defend herself against the same question, only on the other side of the coin.

I just don't get why people make it SUCH a big deal...ya know?

So glad that you are back! Your pics are amazing! It looks like you had a wonderful time.

I HATE those questions! Though a lot of my friends and family do not know that we are trying, I'm getting to the point (this is our 9th cycle) when I think I might just start telling people. Like Nikki said, there is no shame in telling people and maybe they would be more understanding. My only concern is that I may start crying when people ask, and I don't know if I'm willing to do that. Even people who took awhile to conceive don't always get it.

You are absolutely right, one of my best friends is married and doesn't want kids and that is fine. There is nothing wrong with not wanting children! Ok, I think I'm getting mad for you--sorry about the rambling--just so happy that you are back!!!!

That's one of the things that gets me... I've had to endure "Oh it'll happen" and the like and I'm like "Really?! Really?!? That's what you're gonna say to me?"

I know I will NEVER forget what it feels like to be on this side of the fence and I've promised myself that I will NEVER use any of those cliches to ANYONE, regardless how long they have to TTC!

I totally understand. All those questions is what made me do a search to find this page! All my friends have kids and keep asking when we are going to have our own kids. We have been married six years and have been TTC for over a year but no one knows that. And it is DH that keeps saying every month, "It will happen next month." I love how positive he is being, but it just makes it that much worse when it doesn't happen! Anyway, welcome back!
