Ok, I went off bc in march, had a normal af 28 days later and it lasted 3 days. Then 29 days later had af for 10 days ( nope that isn't a typo ). I then started using ovulation strips and haven't ovulated or started af since and it's been 31 days. What do I do? When do I make a dr appt? I was there for my annual in march and she basically said have fun and good luck. I also took a test on Sunday night and got a bfn
It can anywhere from 3 - 6 months for your body to go back to normal on BCP. Your cycle sounds like mine when I came off, had a 30 some day, a 19 day then a 40 some day... how long were you on BCP and do you remember what your cycles were like before you went on it?
I was on birth control for about 15 years (jeez I ahve never really thought about that before) so it makes sence that it will take a bit to get back on track. Should I still be using my OPK's or should I wait until I become more regular?
I was only on hormonal bc for a few months before I decided I would rather do without because I couln't really tolerate it, and it took my body over three months before it started ovulating again, and even then the first few cycles were very sporadic (as in some anovulatory, some with ovulation). So, 15 years is a very long time in comparison to my few months.
Also, don't stress yourself out, stress will also influence your cycle. When I am under a lot of pressure my body occasionally simply gives up ovulating, even though I can clearly see the cervical fluid build up and that my body is trying.
And TTC in combination with thinking there might be something wrong because it hasn't happened yet is probably one of the worst kind of stress one can go through.
So, don't worry about it, I am sure you will be just fine!
You can still O even if your cycles are irregular so I say keep using OPK's. Are you charting, if not I would recommend charting as well. This is a great way to confirm that you O'ed. You could sign up for fertility friend for free.
