Yeah, I agree.. they changed philospher's stone to sorcerer's stone thinking that would entice the american audience more (since philosopher's makes us think of some old wise thinking dude....not something where there'd be some action)..
And a lot of the brit slang terms were just changed for easy american readability..keeping in mind these books were originally intended for a younger audience

im a big HP fan too..i have all the books and the dvds. I didnt realise that they were changed for the US, obviously I have UK versions - which im guessing are probably the same as the canadian versions??
i have heard of film names being changed between the Uk and US before though, cant think of any right now which is typical!
im hopefully going on the HP studio tour in london in september with a friend of mine - excited much!!

Has anybody been to that Harry Potter land in Florida? We would love to do a Florida trip someday...if we do HP Land will be a MUST!
ETA: I have the Canadian/British version of the books, mine is the Philosopher's stone. I have never read the American version.

I never thought about the UK version being the same as the Canadian! We have the Philosophers Stone as well, and we've both read both versions...not terribly different.
I would love to go to HP Land in Florida! My folks live in FL, though not near that, but we haven't been since before we were engaged!

That is one book series I was NOT able to put down.. I'm an "old woman" when it comes to going to bed around 8:30 or 9pm and I was up til 1am or so reading all three of those books. Great for sex drive too

No, they're definitely not too different..as I said..it's mostly just the name of the stone in the first one, then names of candies or slang terms here or there

I got my very first ever car today! Well.. I share it with DH, and he paid for it.. but it's mine mine mine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not exactly what I wanted, and now that we've signed the papers I hear it could be hard to use with car seats and DH's long legs... but I'll cross that road. First road is getting Reme a seat that isn't a death trap in the back seat, cause his current one isn't gonna cut it!
But.. Mine Mine Mine mine!!!
Oh.. and it's a Saturn wagon. LOL.

We're excited. It's smaller than what we're used to... but we knew we didn't really need a second mini van. This will totally get us through several years. Wouldn't need anything new until I had two RFing kids.

Its my birthday tomorrow! I will be 26.. a friend of mine told me its just a downward slope to 30 now lol - gee thanks - right??!
i'm not sure what i'll be doing as Rob has something planned - which is a secret at the moment! i'm kinda excited though, i have always loved birthdays! i had a couple of cards and a present come in the post yesterday and it killed me not to open them..even though i know the present is series 7 of greys anatomy lol! i cant wait to watch it
on another note..my diet is going...ok i guess. i made some awesome thai green vegatables with rice for tea last night - it was really yummy. AND i tried tofu for the first time, it had an odd consistency but was ok as the curry had such a strong taste. i think ill post the recipe i used in the sub-board incase anyone fancies trying it

Congrats on the new car Ashley!! How exciting
Happy birthday Jen, hope you had a great day and that you were super spoiled by your hubby
I hope everybody had a great weekend! Mine was great! Friday night I went out to see "Magic Mike" with some girls from work, and for out for supper after. Has anybody else seen it yet? I thought it was great....not the best story line but definitely VERY entertaining LOL!
Yesterday we had a joint birthday party for our nephew (3) and neice (1). Hubby had a blast with all the kids! So cute. Then he had a dream I was pregnant.... Today we went to church to watch my FIL preach for the first time (he was covering for the Pastor who was on vacation) and then we went to my SIL's to hang out with her and her hubby and kids for the rainy afternoon.
I'm on Day 14 of my cycle. It looks like I am fertile now, and I had a little bit of spotting tonight so I hope I'm O'ing!!

A girl from work, her friend and I are going to see it Thursday after work. We are going to the man candy not the plot.

You'll love it then There is definitely lots of man candy, and some pretty neat choreography too. It's a fun movie!
