What was the first thing you remember buying with your own money?

Besides candy and other small treats, the first thing that I remember buying is a stuffed animal that I had been wanting for months. I remember saving my money to buy the stuffed animal. I still have the stuffed animal in one of our spare bedrooms!

A baby doll for my little brother. Mom was due any day and I didn't want to share my holding time with the new baby.. plus he wasn't yet 2. So I took my piggy bank money and bought him his own doll, bottles, diapers and a blanket.

My stuff back from my mother.

My mom is a cleanfreak (I say that lovingly). When we were kids, whatever toys/books/etc that we didn't clean up at the end of the day got taken away by my parents. We had to use our allowance money to buy them back.

That way my mom got a clean house, and we learned the value of money.

I think I spent my entire allowance buying my books back from her for years.

I love this! I'm sure you hated it as a kid, as I would have, but what a brilliant idea. (Sorry though!)
