So my DH has a trip to Alaska planned for work August 13th-16th. He's been three or four times before, but I've never been. He would like for me to meet with him up in Alaska. Though I would love to go, I'm worried about several things: 1.) taking time off from work--I'd like to bank as many hours as possible so that when it's time for baby, I won't have to take leave without pay. 2.) money--we have some debt that I would like to pay off in the next couple months. Also, I have a feeling that we will have to try the IUI route, which could cost a lot of money. 3.) flying by myself--I've flown by myself before, but never for 8 hours. Most of my solo trips were 2-3 hours. I'm a bit claustrophobic and I'm concerned that if I start to panic, I'll have no one there with me. I can take an anti-anxiety pill, but then I'm worried that I will be drugged and alone on the plane. So this is my dilemma. So sorry for the long read, and thank you if you read this far. I really don't know what to do. Any advice is appreciated!

DH and I took a trip to Alaska this past spring and it was amazing! I know you have some concerns about the trip itself, but in my opinion, if you can get yourself comfortable with the flight (I slept through our longest leg of the trip)--then go. It's an awesome opportunity for you and your guy to get away and enjoy each other and who knows, maybe make a baby!
Alaska is just breath taking !! I would jump all over the opportunity to go! Also, since it is a long flight as your Dr. to prescribe you an ambien for the flight. It will chill you out and help you sleep through it! Alaskan air does crazy things go people like, MAKE BABIES!!! Go!!!
If it were me, I would jump on an opportunity to travel because who knows if the opportunity will be there in the future such as after the baby. That adds a lot more obstacles if you want to go on a trip but I think you should do what you feel comfortable doing.
Personally, I would take the opportunity to go, but it depends on what you feel comfortable doing. If going and putting off paying your debt, taking time off work etc., is going to cause more stress than it's worth than don't go. Alaska is on my list of places to go though - it looks simply amazing there! When this kind of situation arises I try to tell myself that debt (other stresses etc.) will always be there, but situations like this might not come up alot. That's just my 2 cents though. Plus, like Dawn said, once you have a baby it might be harder to do things like this.
Maybe make a pro/cons list? I'm a dork and make lists like those all the time!
Thank you again ladies for your advice and support! So, I decided to take your advice and book the trip to Alaska! I'm flying out August 15th and returning on Augst 19th! It's a short trip, and mainly we're going to Denali state park, but it will be exciting! Thank you again!
