So it's looking like round #1 with Clomid is a failure. My progesterone did go up to 14.38 (from 7.5 two cycles ago) on 7 DPO and my RE seems to think that's good enough and that I should just do 50mg again next cycle but I am having doubts. I've been reading online that medicated cycles should be at least 20 so I would be happier if mine was closer to that. Also, I've been spotting for 3 days now and expect AF tomorrow or Monday so that's 3-4 days of spotting and that just seems like too much.

I want to ask my RE for either a higher dose of Clomid or maybe progesterone to take in the 2WW but I don't know if I should or not. He's supposed to be the expert but I just feel like my ovulation could be stronger still and I want to make the most of these cycles. I need to decide by Monday because that's when I call the nurse to get a prescription for next cycle going.

I hate BFN's.

I would probably ask for a higher dose. I ovulated on CD16 the first time and just told the nurse I O'd so I stayed on the same dose. After not O'ing the next two cycles I went back in and my doctor said had she known I didn't O till CD16 she would have given me a higher dose then. Not saying you won't O again like me, just that my doctor would give a higher dose for O'ing that late.

Also if I remember right progesterone should be at least 15 but I could be wrong about that.

*hugs*

If it were me, I'd ask for the upgrade. The early spotting, and 14 progesterone would worry me too.

kup on what you choose!

I spotted for a week prior to AF after a round of Clomid 100mg. That was my second round of Clomid, I had taken 50mg the cycle before that.. Clomid 100 hasn't done any good, my doctor is upping it again to 150mg this next go around... Just waiting on AF to come now... May have to start Provera again since I'm on CD 34 right now.

Hope everything works out for you!!! I'd definitely ask about upping the dose. Good lucks!!!

Hey sweetie! I'm on my third round of clomid this cycle. I started on 50mg, O'd on day 19 with a 5 day LP. My ob/gyn bumped me up to 100mg for the next cycle. I O'd on day 16/17 with a 4/5 day LP. This cycle I'm still on 100mg, but I will be starting prometrium as well. I would ask--insist--on bumping up to 100mg. As you know you can really only take clomid for no more than 6 cycles, so why not try a higher dose. The only downside is the horrible side-effects! GL and KUP!

So I talked to the nurse today and now I'm kind of disappointed. I can't do Clomid every cycle, only every other cycle otherwise I will have to get ultrasounds to check for cysts and for some reason ultrasounds cost $550 each. And with not having fertility coverage I just can't afford those every month. It's kind of funny but if I had an ultrasound done and there was a cyst found then it would be covered by insurance but I wouldn't be able to take the Clomid that cycle anyway. So I might as well just go every other month.

She didn't think it would be necessary to go up to 100mg for my next Clomid cycle but I insisted and she agreed to at least ask the RE about it for me. They are going to send me some progesterone suppositories that I can use this cycle and for however many cycles I want to try to help with the spotting. So there's that at least I guess. I have read that Clomid stays in your system for a while so maybe it will help with this cycle a little bit too. I really wish I wasn't limited to what I can have done by how much money we have to spend. Oh well, I'm ready to get on with my next cycle, bring on the witch!

Aw man that sucks! My doctor only makes me have an ultrasound done if I haven't O'd by a certain CD to check things out. I don't have insurance to pay for them either, but she's really nice and doesn't charge me for every one. Or she will charge me for the u/s but not the visit to help me out a little.

I know there are two ladies on the main TTC board who recently went off clomid and femara (one of each) but still O'd this cycle unmedicated. They were both on their respective meds for a few cycles though before the break. I hope you turn out to be just as lucky!

Thanks Tasha. Luckily I do O on my own thanks to Metformin, it is just not a very strong O and they are worried that with my low progesterone it wouldn't be enough to get pregnant with. But I'm happy that I can get any help at all with my fertility really so I'll just have to roll with it.

Thanks for KUP! I hope the progesterone helps both of us! I start prometrium in a few days. Hopefully our next cycles will bring us BFPs!
